LOOK: Amber gold, leaning red. Slightly cloudy. Decent head retention and nice lacing, though my pours got smallish heads.

SMELL: A little citrus in the aroma, followed by a little rye.

TASTE: Wow. Nice. Marvelous rye flavor. Citrus hints. Somehow both a little sweet and a little bitter.

LITW pours a warm hazy orange color from the can with a persistent off-white head. Aromas of spicy rye, damp cedar, dried apricot, and dank hops. Not a bad example of a medium bodied IPA, but the flavors become somewhat muddled and bitterness takes over early into the sip. More spicy rye character on the palate with a degree of astringency. The sharp bitterness bleeds into the finish and hangs around for a while, contributing some dryness to the aftertaste. I'm glad to see more breweries releasing rye beers, and while this one is good, it doesn't quite stand out from the pack.

16oz tallboy can, sample from the brewery.

Tight tiny bubbled lacing, good clarity in the golden hued brew. Spicy, esters, zesty, fruity, and grainy in the nose. Lost of citrus rind flavor, soft thick blanket of hop bitterness. Spicy rye drops a little bit of body and a rustic breadiness on the palate. Fruit middle to finish with a more spice and a kick of esters. Enjoyable, flavors linger in a good way.

Poured from the 16oz can dated 10/14/15 into a nonic pint, comes out a very hazy goldenrod color with a tight head that leaves some lacing. Smell errs on the side of sweet and hoppy, but there's some spicy hops here too with a hint of resin, but mostly I'm getting raspberry. Great balanced flavor, nice initial rye punch that is pretty tangy and clings to the palate. Middle and end are pretty hoppy, but overall quite balanced. Notes of stone fruit with some citrus and spice. Finish is dry, carbonated, very light in the stomach. Really nice Rye IPA here.

Fantastic brew. One of my favorite beers available. Love what BBCO is doing right now. Try it.

16 oz. can poured into a pint glass. Deep murky orange. Medium off-white head and a lot of lacing. Smells citrusy and toasty. Lightly fruity and a bit of diacetyl there as well. Grapefruit hop flavor. Pale malt sweetness. Spicy rye flavor right up front. Toasty malt. Bitter and spicy finish. Again, a bit of diacetyl. Medium body. Low carbonation. Pretty nice, except for the diacetyl flavor.

This was poured into a nonic pint glass. The appearance was a nice looking hazy bronzed orange color with a one finger white foamy head that dissipated within less than about forty seconds. The smell started off with a spicy rye running into light citrus notes and leading into a sly caramel malt. The taste was semi-sweet and somewhat bitter, decently hoppy and slightly sweet through caramel and rye malts. A sly sweet to spicy rye to caramel aftertaste leads into a semi-crisp rye finish. On the palate, this one sat about a medium on the body with a fair sessionability about it. Carbonation runs evenly on the tongue and allows the rye to penetrate as it should for the bitterness level. Overall, good rye/IPA that I would have again.
