On tap at the brewery's gastropub in Burlington.
Appearance. Clear, but near opaque and black body with a decent beige head.
A relatively sweet and clean version of the style.

Look: Pitch black, fully opaque. Swallows the light. When held to the light, it makes an appealing amber ring around the top of the beer.
Smell: Chocolate, a little toast, with a strong backbone of oats. I wish the aroma was a bit stronger, but it gives a solid impression of what the beer will be like.
Taste: I’m immediately hit with a strong dark chocolate flavor, which slowly develops into toasted oatmeal bread as it fades out. It’s not an intensely flavored beer; it’s something you can easily sip again and again.
Feel: Medium body, easy to drink. The carbonation starts to become apparent if you hold it in your mouth, but you barely notice it on a sip.
Overall Impressions: A highly drinkable Oatmeal Stout. Highlights typical stout flavors without being overpowering or overly heavy. A dark beer suitable for any occasion.

All around tasty oatmeal stout. Dark pour with a thin mocha cap. Roasty aroma. I would have expected the taste and mouthfeel to be more subtle and softer given the oats, but it's pretty decent regardless.

Inky with slight red on edge when held to light. On the delicate end of stouts but has some nice bitter notes.

Matte black with a dense tan head that retains thick and well as a level blanket leaving wavy lace.
On the stronger porter, lighter stout bent but with extreme expression of characteristics: tobacco roast with baker's chocolate is accented by amaretto within a semisweet finish despite a semi-bitter start.
The roundly medium body comes to a semi-dry to powder dry swallow.

Pours jet black with a small tan head that dissipates quickly. The flavor conjures up dark fruit, chocolate and coffee. A pretty simple, not terribly complex stout. So many of Burlington's beers are outstanding, but I would call Folk Metal simply "capable".

My can says 5.5%ABV not the 6.2% on this page.
This beer is a fail. Too bland, watery and slick for an oatmeal stout. Not to mention too expensive for such low quality. Get an Ipswich Oatmeal Stout for far better quality and much lower price.

Good Stout color but weak nose and weak watery taste. Really a disappointment overall.
BBCO makes really good imperial and BBA stouts but this didn’t hold up the standard.

No notable head and therefore no lace. Deep dark brown color. Light passes on the edge of the glass.
Dry and coffee like aroma. It smells like the beginning of a fresh pot of coffee being made. No chalkiness.
Moderate body with an elevated effervescence. The coffee flavor is dominant but it has a touch of cream and sugar. Here, I do get some chalk. The black patent malt (I.e. burnt) flavoring is at a minimum.

Real looker. Bran flakes, coffee, dates. Surprised by the low abv on this one. A nice beer but probably won't have more than one in a session.
