Consumed 5/8/16

A: Golden honey with some pale orange highlights - hazy - pours with a medium to large sized bright white head, fades to a nearly solid cap and leaves big streaks and spots of lacing

S: Hops and some wheat, pretty much smells as advertised - hops are not potent, but I guess they aren't supposed to be - tangerine and orange flesh, grapefruit zest - floral citrus - lightly grassy, a touch herbal - clean, soft pale malts with the distinctive aroma of wheat, but not a ton - clean with some faint sweetness

T: Well rounded and fairly neutral overall - some hoppy citrus, mostly orange and grapefruit - citrus flesh and some some touches of zest, oil - floral citrus - some touches of herbal hops, grass, and spice - medium level of bitterness - pale malts, pale grains, and some wheat twang and wheat spice - just imagine a bowl of Wheaties with orange juice on the side - clean, dry finish

M: Medium body, smooth, soft mouthfeel, medium carbonation, clean finish

O: You could go down worse rabbit holes

I think this beer was first released about a year ago, and for the majority of the last year I was convinced this was a Belgian pale ale. Nope. This is a well-balanced pale wheat ale. It's not going to blow any minds, but it has some nice citrus complemented by a nice malt base. It really shines when it approaches room temperature. Regardless, it's easy drinking and hard to dislike.

Definitely floral hints to this. Strange bite on the back end, reminiscent of Heady Topper. I liked it but not one I could drink all the time.

From a 12oz can, dated 05/03/17. Served in an imperial pint pub glass.

Pours a thoroughly hazed golden-straw-yellow with a couple of fingers of soft ivory head. Retention is just OK but leaves an honest collar of foam and some nice sticky lacing.

Smells of clean wheaty maltiness, orange peels and a hint of mint.

Tastes of crackery, spicy wheat and orange juice. Some grapefruit peel, grassy herb and bhang water. Ends with a quick, clean rosemary and pine resin bitter finish.

Feel is clean and crisp, slightly less than medium bodied and brightly carbonated. Very easy drinking.

Overall, a nice little beer from BBC that feels bigger than it's stated abv of 5.8%, not in terms of booziness (none detectable) but in its solid, substantial body. This would be an eminently suitable lawn mower beer.
