2017 version; ABV on the side of the can actually says, 9% but for what it's worth, I'm saying my thoughts on this beer here.
Treated as an imperial porter, this was poured into a tulip.
The appearance was a semi-thick dark brown color with a semi-fizzy to foamy head that just bit the dust immediately. No lace.
The aroma, well, best way to describe this, it smelled exactly like a peanut butter and raspberry jelly sandwich. Light dark chocolate slightly in the background with a little bit of roast to coincide gently.
The flavor was moderately sweet with a substantial yet mostly underlying little bit of roastiness. Porter-like chocolate sweetness was exceptionally light. Mild roasty to nutty sort of aftertaste.
The mouthfeel was about medium bodied with a fair in between glance of the sipping to sessionable sort of quality about it. ABV isn't distracting, but appropriate. Finish was semi-roasty, slightly nutty and somewhat with the raspberry jelly trying to create a little bit of smoothness.
Overall, this was way better than what I had on tap at the Blackback a while back. No offense to the Blackback, but maybe BBC perfected their recipe now cause this 2017 batch is extremely better.

This beer pours shockingly similar to a Dr. Pepper, effervescent carbonation that bubbles up and quickly dissipates. Dark fruit, cherries, jam, malt on the nose. Taste is closest to Joyva chocolate jelly rings - reduced, (overly) sweet raspberry jam, hint of tartness, and dry, chalky chocolate. Very thin mouthfeel, thin carbonation, almost like a fountain soda. This didn't come together for me.
