absolute magic once again from these guys on the wild side, i know they have branched out some into a big range of styles and do cans now and all of that, but its still the funky ones that stand out to me, and this is special, so thankful to have been able to partake in this bottle. 2022 vintage, deep stained glass ruby color on it with a fizzy pink head peaking out at just under an inch and falling back slowly, this is gorgeous beer. the aroma is striking too, tart right away but more from cherries than from the ferment, this is positively packed with fruit! slightly vinous to me, and almost taking on a pie spice note, clove and cinnamon, although this is unspiced im sure, just a nuance. good acidity makes my mouth water, some citrus, wheat, and real mature brett, super farmy and rustic which i love in their beers. the flavor is just like the nose. cherries and funk abound from start to finish, not woody or anything, the fruit seems so fresh and bright, tangy but not overly sour at the end, medium bodied with more grain texture than flavor apparent at all temperatures, still some spice to it, almost a cedar wood thing, red berries, red currants maybe, slight mustiness to the ferment, vibrant and buzzing on the bubbles. this whole thing is wonderful, amazing fruit profile, bold and high quality, with the killer wild profile these guys have developed. i was blown away by this, best cherry anything ive had in ages...

Batch 7, bottled August 2023

I’ve really been enjoying what I’ve tried from Fonta Flora so far, and this one sounds incredible as well. I do find it funny that Jester King started what seems to be a trend of using both Montmorency and Balaton in Wild Ales almost exclusively. Let’s pop it open and find out what it’s all about

Pours an opaque reddish purple with a finger of pinkish whitw head that quickly fades to a ring and leaves minimal lacing

The nose is pretty tart but remains quite balanced. I’m picking up on aromas of tart cherry, jammy raspberry, brown sugar, dark bread, toffee, red wine vinegar, black pepper, lemon zest, and light honey

It’s similarly subtle in taste but that doesn’t detract from it. On the front end of the sip I’m tasting tart cherry, lemon zest, brown sugar, graham cracker, cherry pit, dark bread, jammy raspberry, and light vanilla. The swallow brings notes of jammy raspberry, black cherry, lemon juice, brown sugar, tannic white wine, dark bread, black pepper, and toffee

A medium body pairs with gentle tingling carbonation, resulting in a crisp beer. Finishes mostly dry and refreshing

Unsurprisingly Fonta Flora has another winner with this one. It’s not my favorite from them but damn good regardless

Pours a bright magenta with absolutely no head. Sour cherries on the nose with some of that mustiness. The beer is tart upfront with moderate acidity that doesn’t get too bad as it warms, the Cherry character comes through next. It’s interesting and complex. A really nice Cherry wild ale.

Pours a beautiful ruby red grapefruit with a finger of fizzly white head quickly reducing to a thin white ring. Aroma is grapefruit, strawberry jam, cherry, and tart lacto. Taste follows suit. Very sour, very jammy, feel is very crisp and refreshing and a tart fruit pulp bite. Good beer, would drink again.

First of all, awesome name. Second, I had this at the Firestone Walker Invitational 2017. One of the silver linings of being shitfaced at 4am just 8 hours before the festival started for us plebes, is that I didn't mind standing in line in all the highly sought after small brewery project lines with Sheldon.

Anyways, since Sheldon rocked my world with that Crooked Stave sour cherry pie beer, only seemed fitting to check this one out. Definitely has a cherry impression in the appearance color wise. Looks very similar. Very thin off white head 1/6". Aroma hit those cherry pie notes. If you like expectations firmly met thus far, you're happy.

Taste was much in the same, mild pie crust base, minimal funk or oak impressions, mostly some lemon and lime like sour qualities with cherry pie filling on the top. Sourness was middle of the road, I'd say about a 6 on the 10pt scale. Carbonation right on point. They came in with high expectations, and they're totally worthy. I mean, I wouldn't stand in line unless I was hung over, but I can see why there was a line.

This sexy Meemaw has a hot magenta body with an effervescent pink champagne-like fizz that's somehow uncharacteristically creamy. The head loudly dies off with a persistent hiss, taking a bit longer than you'd expect.

Smell is cheesy, slightly woody funk first and foremost--that cheese is of a creamy, gooey and very aged variety--with some faint notes of cherry and lemon lime in the background.

Taste is cherry lime with toasty pie crust and a hint of char or oak or toasted sesame and a slight touch of soft aged cheese. Some cinnamon comes out as it warms.

A crisp, effervescent bouncy body of medium-light weight finishes semi-dry and tingly.
