Poured into a Fremont small snifter. Pours a dark reddish orange with a half finger light khaki head with good retention and lacing. Aroma of bready and biscuit malt, brown bread and unidentifiable nuts. Flavor is lightly toasted biscuit malt with a touch of caramel, brown bread, hints of molasses, nuts. Malty, lightly nutty finish. Medium bodied with light creaminess. A solid malty brown ale that adheres to the style, but adds a light to moderate nuttiness. It's been a while since I've had a chestnut, but I can't particularly identify that as the nut source. A nicely made nut brown.

We got this one from Tavour. Chilled for a while and poured into an imperial pint glass.

Look: dark brown hue with a finger sized tan head that dissipated quickly and left a tan ring, leaving a very faint lacing that didn’t hang around very long.
Smell: breads, a little nutty, hints of pine.
Taste: breads up front, sweetness and a bit of roasted chestnut that died away leaving breads brown roast.
Feel: light body, light tickle of carbonation.

Overall this is a solid bready brown ale. We were not sure about the chestnut notes and overall doesn’t really make a presence. If you like sweet, bready brown ales this is not bad, but as far as a nutty ale, not so much.

Cheers everyone!

L: Medium brown, slight red hue at the fringes, and a finger of beige foam fading quickly and leaving spotty lace.

S: A brown. Can't say there is much nuttiness here beyond the aromas that generally accompany brown. I am not picking out chestnuts. It smells a touch on the tannic side of the spectrum.

T: Similar to the nose. Its only slighly roasty, medium sugar and very bready. I like it.

F: Nice body and appropriate carbonation, a bit silky. One of the better brown ale mouthfeels.

O: I think the chestnut was a good course but needed to be way amped up to showcase it. Overall though this is a fairly well executed brown that I would gladly enjoy again with different expectation.
