Notes: Scuppadine is brewed with local malted and raw grains. Fermented in steel with our mixed house cultures. Transferred into oak for maturation. At six months, this beer is then transferred out of barrels onto heaps of native and local scupperdine and muscadine grapes. After a few weeks of fermenting on the grapes, this beer is then transferred back into barrels for extensive aging. 14 months old at bottling. Conditioned naturally inside the bottle.

Appearance - The was a hazy yellow-orange color with with visible carbonation and a white head.

Smell - Overall, the beer had a rich sour nose. It was sturdy, but the acidity was not overdone.

Taste - Green grapes came to the front with more acidity than sweetness. Green apple notes added a nice level of tartness in back. The beer was not overly acidic, but well balanced.

Mouthfeel - Without seeming gritty, the beer had a great body.

Overall - This was the best sour I have had in quite some time.

Enjoyed on tap at the Dive Bar tap takeover.

A - Poured into a tulip a nice hazy strawberry hue with a thin white head that fades to leave light wisps.

S - Big aromas of musty grapes, sweet and vinous, fresh not jammy. Good subtle funk as well.

T - Taste is similar to the nose with loads of slightly sweet malts and tons of fruity jammy grapes. Loads of grape must along with seedy grapes. Finish is lingering vinous notes. Lovely.

M - Mouthfeel is lightly carbonated, little crisp, lingering dry.

O - Overall this was a very solid wild ale. Excellent grape notes.

Appearance: Pours a slightly hazy honey color with a modest head that fades quickly; spotty lacing

Smell: Tart and acetic with a lemon character that is stronger than the Scuppernog and Muscadine grape aromatics; very funky

Taste: Funky, from the outset, with an acetic tartness building; very lemony though there is some of the Appalachian grape tones in the mix; somewhat bitter, through the middle, with a tart, oaky finish

Mouthfeel: Medium body with low to moderate carbonation; puckery

Overall: I was anticipating the sweetness of the Muscadine and Scuppernog grapes here but this tastes more like a Geuze

this is of epic depth, complexity, and quality, and anyone who drinks this should feel lucky to do so, its special and rare to the extent all of the fonta flora beer is, but their wild stuff, particularly this sort of thing, to me at least, represents the very best of what they do, and i will not soon forget this one, a standout in a really absurd session of drinking fancy and hard to come by beers. effervescent like champagne but with a touch of malt color and body to it, tart and even acidic to an extent, but lemony and clean, wild and bretty at the same time as it is bacterial, and wrapped neatly in oak, sturdy and soft simultaneously, compelling and interesting right away, mouth watering and layered, even before the fruit. the grapes, which i generally associate with sweeter wines, are dry and mineral forward here, funky, almost as a vector for it, sharp and tidy, fruity for sure, some pineapple and grass in here, kiwi and melon, lemon and lime, so sexy, so tasty, a little heavier on the grain side than anticipated, but its not a negative for me, it gives it a richness that i like with the fruit. sour but not too much to drink this up, and funky like only these guys can do, as much as its a cool grape beer, its also an exquisite illustration of their house funk. i thought this was top notch, but i am a sucker for their wild beers. truly amazing stuff!

Bottle poured into a snifter

A- pours a hazy golden orange color with a small foamy white head that has short retention

S- aroma has that distinctive muscadine grape aroma, along with undertones of apricot, ripe pear & peach. Acidic tartness closes it out

T- flavor up front is pure muscadine grape skin, along with undertones of musk and some white wine notes. The finish is dry and acidic, with more grape skin on the linger

M- medium-light body with moderate carbonation leads to a slightly foamy mouthfeel and a crisp, dry, almost tannic finish

O- a fine showcase of the grapes, outstanding
