A: Pours an opaque extremely dark brown approaching jet black in color with moderate amounts of fine active visible carbonation rising along the edges of the glass and faint dark cola brown + chestnut brown colored highlights. The beer has a two finger tall tan head that slowly reduces to a large patch of thin film covering a little more than 75% of the surface of the beer and a thin ring at the edges of the glass. Minimal amounts of lacing are observed.

S: Moderate to strong aromas of freshly ground coffee, freshly brewed coffee, mocha, and dark chocolate/cacao nibs over the top of light to moderate aromas of dark roasted malts + toasted oats with a very light amount of caramel sweetness.

T: Upfront there are light to moderate flavors of dark roasted malts + toasted oats with a very light amount of caramel sweetness. That is followed by slightly stronger than moderate flavors of freshly ground coffee, freshly brewed coffee, mocha, and dark chocolate/cacao nibs. Light flavors of earthy hops. Light to moderate amounts of lingering coffee bitterness in the finish.

M: Medium bodied with moderate amounts of carbonation. Smooth.

O: Easy to drink with well hidden alcohol (and an extremely low ABV) and a smooth mouthfeel. Very enjoyable and may be the perfect breakfast beer that I have encountered thus far with great coffee/breakfast flavors and a sessionable ABV.

No canned on date. Poured into a nonic pint.

A: Dark brown with chocolate cake batter brown frothy 1-finger head with average retention but no lacing.

S: Delicious aroma of dark roasted cold black coffee with dark and milk chocolate with a bit of malted milk ball and vanilla thrown in there.

T: Flavor is a bit less cohesive than the aroma with very strong black coffee out of the gate with dark chocolate through the rest of the palate with a bit of tea-like tannic bitterness in the finish. No sweetness really to speak of — it could use some as the finish is very flat and leaves a clashing aftertaste of burnt black coffee and dark cocoa like chocolate.

M: Not thin and watery which is a good thing for this low of ABV. Low carbonation but a bit of astringency in the finish.

O: A nice accomplishment with a lot of coffee and dark chocolate character. I think some added sweetness from lactose or low-medium caramel malts might help the body a bit more and cut the harshness of the finish and feel.

Pours with virtually no head, nose of chocolate, hardly any coffee, taste is dominated by bitter chocolate notes which completely drown out the coffee, and thoroughly overwhelm the very light body of this beer. Session-able abv, but not session-able in flavor. Reminiscent of samuel smith organic chocolate. Interesting that they were able to pack such an overwhelming flavor in such a low alcohol beer.

Look: It pours black with a dark brown head. Head retention is excellent.

Smell: It has strong coffee aromas with mocha and cocoa. It has very low background notes of expresso.

Taste: It has coffee flavors with touches of expresso and mocha. The cocoa also supports the coffee flavors.

Feel: It is very smooth in texture and easy drinking.

Overall, an easy drinking coffee flavored beer.
