750ml bottle poured at fridge temp. Pours a very dark brown with minimal head. The nose is full of vanilla, slight maple, slight toffee, big malts, and some gentle dark fruit. Apart from the big punch of vanilla, the notes are relatively subdued on the nose.

The taste is really nice and smooth. It's definitely not a vanilla bomb as the nose might suggest. Getting some nice bourbon notes, vanilla, coconut, burnt toffee, bready malts, tree bark, plums, raisins, and a slight port note. Very nice - not too sweet and not too bitter. A nice middle ground.

Mouthfeel is medium bodied. The 12% ABV is detectable, but I wouldn't call this boozy. The aftertaste is toffee, bourbon, and slight vanilla. Great beer.

I've read reviews that call batch #1 a vanilla bomb, so I entered this bottle of batch #2 with some trepidation. Thankfully, the balance here is wonderful. The toffee, fig, and raisin, I remember from the regular version are all here, but the molasses is not as discernible. The vanilla is not all that assertive, melding well with the other elements at work here. We are both thoroughly enjoying this. Fair warning, be careful with the last pour. There was some coagulated something lurking at the bottom of this bottle. Not a big deal, I certainly do not regret the purchase.

Beer Advocate lists 343 Fonta Flora beers in their database & somehow, I’ve dodged every one to this point. No longer shall it avoid my lips. 750ML bottle split with my wife.

The pour is dark brown layered on top of dark red with a midget’s head not long for this world. Nose is standard vanilla.

Periodic Motion – Vanilla is a thrill…every forty minutes or so. The vanilla hides near everything, including the base beer. Bourbon shows as it approaches room temperature, but the heavy hand of vanilla drowns it out. Almost. Heavy, & a smaller portion would have done me well.

A simple beer & did I mention too much vanilla? Disappointed. Average.

Appearance: Pours coffee colored ith a thin beige head that fades to a ringlet; leggy, with a few spots dribbling down

Smell: The vanilla dominates, with caramel, raisin and Bourbon

Taste: Vanilla dominates the flavor profile, as well, with the Bourbon emerging; the caramel and raisin is recessive; the Bourbon builds into the finish and, along with the vanilla, push out the rest of the flavors; boozy finish

Mouthfeel: Full bodied and chewy, with low to moderate carbonation; warmth in the gullet

Overall: I liked the base beer but the vanilla here is just overpowering and, as a result, the flavors are out of balance
