Poured on-tap at the brewery and served in a shaker pint, the beer is a brownish-black color, with a tan, sparse head. Aromas of roasted grains, subtle coffee, milk chocolate, and subtle cream. Flavors are bitter roasted coffee forward, with cocoa nib highlights, and a hint of cream. Smooth, dry bodied, with a roasted coffee aftertaste. Smooth, dry finish. Tasty beer.

Was in Richmond for the Hardywood Gingerbread release, stopped into the brewery to check it out. Cool space! A modest three beers on tap, this place seems like it's just getting on their feet. This is an oatmeal porter.

Poured into a plastic cup, the beer is very dark brown with plenty of light brown on the edges, decent ring of light tan head and some lacing.

Not a lot of aroma, has some roast and robust oatmeal when I get my nose in there. Cereal/barley type notes as well. The taste has more going on, a pleasant coffee/espresso flavor is buoyed by a nice richer oatmeal base. Totally solid, easy drinking with good roast, the feel is a touch watery right up front but gains a bit of body on the way through. Thinner than I would have expected, but solid carbonation.

Overall, a solid brew, something for them to build on.
