Pours a very dark brown with a light caramel colored head on top. Can smell roasted malts with a hint of chocolate. Coffee is present in the taste along with the chocolate malts.

can 6-pack picked up from Knightly Spirits in Orlando. canned 11/2/16, so a little over 2 months old.

jet black body with a foamy oatmeal head leaving excellent lacing.

malty, "portery" aroma. not getting the chocolate mentioned on the can, or any coffee notes, but still a decently strong aroma.

lightly roasted malts, which i for one appreciate more than the overly roasted ones.

between medium and full on the mouth. finish is same as the taste.

overall, good, solid, well balanced English porter. despite the lack of coffee and chocolate, stands up as a good beer.

A thanks to the captain of the canquest, woodychandler, for this beer. Poured from a 12 oz. can. Has a very dark brown color with a 1 inch head. Smell is of dark breads, some coffee. Taste is coffee, dark breads, cocoa, a bit of smoke. Feels medium/full bodied in the mouth and overall is a quality beer.

I am happy to add this to The CANQuest (tm) after picking it up at Philly's Monde Market for inclusion. These are glorious days, indeed!

From the CAN: "Hop on for the ultimate craft beer experience!"; "Hop on for the ultimate craft beer experience on the Brew Bus! The Crack! was loud enough to get both the bus and the Glug underway, so I did exactly that. An in-glass swirl raised a brief finger of foamy, Iight tan head that quickly fell back to wisps. Color was Black/Opaque (SRM = 44) with garnet highlights at the edges. Nose smelled like a melted milk chocolate CANdy bar in my glass! Mouthfeel was medium. The taste was not just chocolaty as one might expect from the nose, but it was also unexpectedly smoky. I am talking rauchbier smoky! Holy spit! I kid you not. This was like that new trend of chocolate-covered bacon. Finish was so smoky that I began to look around to see if it had set off any alarms. It filled my sinuses and would not go away. This was the kind of beer that I would love to share with others, but a full one to myself was a bit much.

Pours clear, dark brown in color with 1/4 inch head. Taste is cocoa, milk chocolate, and light creaminess. Average English brown ale with great body. Nt sure if I would get this one again.

Poured in to an American pint glass from a 12 oz can.

L - Dark brown, almost cola-like. Created a two-finger head that dissipated quickly, but retained a tan cap the whole way through. Little lacing.

S - Butterscotch up front with some burnt coffee in the back.

T - Definitely full-bodied, with a lot of flavor complexity going on. Upfront is sweet caramel and some chocolate, with a lot of malty goodness. Just a touch too sweet, with the bitter flavor of burnt sugar following as an aftertaste, making about the only weakness.

F - A little carbonated, but not thin at all. Definitely pleasant on the tongue.

Poured from a can into a shaker pint, the beer is a dark, brownish-brown color, with a solid flow of carbonation in the body, and a tall, fluffy, foamy, light tan head. Nose of rich mocha, subtle campfire smoke, highlights of peat and earth, and some bittersweet chocolate. Flavors are heavily smoked and richly sweet, with a blend of bittersweet chocolate and rich toffee. Some bitter and roasted coffee notes add layers to the palate. Smooth, light, and dry in mouth, with a chocolate and smoky aftertaste. Dry, effervesced finish, with a rich chocolate and earthy linger. Interesting take on the style.
