We're clearing out reviews from the end of May 2014 when I was in Wisconsin for a reunion. This one really kicks out the cliches about Wisconsin ipas: Not their strong suit.

Pours an unfiltered yellow and gold. 1/3" white head. Not a hazy, but has that appearance you aren't sure of like a hazy, compounded by the fact it isn't a hazy. Aroma was typical Wisconsin ipa, lacking dry hopping. Reveals maybe a bit of pine from a C hop, possibly just from bittering additions. Might not be any dry hopping here.

Bittering hops though, they in here. All the pine and grapefruit. Medium range caramel feels. Dunno much more to say here, the beer didn't d much good or bad. I guess if you want your C hop C malt fix, this is up your alley. Me I could have used less alcohol and bitter sting, but was still easy enough to push through without dumping it or drain pouring it as the new money like to say. Lots of that Cascade/Chinook/Centennial vibe to it.

Cloudy pale gold-yellow, coarse white head. I fell asleep looking at the artwork. Smell and nose are sharp and bitter orange peel and pine with next to no redeeming malt backbone. Medium body, harsh carbonation that emboldens the bitterness.
Bracing flavors and bitterness, but with no nuances or opposition it remains a somewhat intense but monotrack brew.

Weirdly amazingly flaviorful, but not to my liking.

From a bottle at Bernie Sanders organizing event. Great aroma. Flavor in the mouth is very, very interesting -- oak and butterscotch and leather come across so clearly. Creamy mouth feel. If it weren't for all the hop bittterness., I would mistake this for an English Barleywine.

This brew isn't for me, but it's one of the most flavorful regular strength IPA's I've ever had.
