Wanted to see how this would compare to Capital's Amber, since this is from a former brewer from Capital. Lagers are my 1st choice in a beer style, American Macro, craft, or foreign.

Poured into a old tavern glass. Nice dark amber color, and off white head.

If you swish the bottle around it has a faint orange pop aroma, not bad, but a little odd. Bready, yeast.

Taste....did someone just pour me a Sierra Nevada Celebration Ale "light"? I may be exaggerating, but this lager taste heavily hopped, as a Celebration IPA is heavily malty. This beer lies very dry on the tongue. As it warms it takes on a Oktoberfest malt note. This beer has a lot going on if you sit back, and pick it apart. Yet it seems like a easy one to enjoy a few bottles, 5.5% perfect. Nice lacing on the glass, if that matters.

On my second, good stuff. Not what I'd expect from a brewer who doesnt care for IPAs. The hops dry out the malt taste on your tongue, thats how I'd describe it, but in a good way.

All in all, very good in my books. Way to go Wisconsin!

Bottle of Wisconsin Brewing's Golden Amber poured into a pint glass gives off 2.5 fingers of a sticky white foam atop a clear amber brew.
Aromas of lightly roasted, slightly sweet malt. Lots of grainy, bready malt character. Not picking anything else up.
Taste is sweet malts, hints of caramel atop a grainy cereal barley malt taste.
Mouthfeel is fairly light bodied with a moderate carbonation. Zingy finish with a mild hop bitterness.
Overall an easy drinking, sweet malty brew.

8/4...pours shiny dark copper, head of white/off white foam. Soft caramel malt nose, very faint. Light bodied, bready, malty, and a quick finish. Slight hop balances out. Smooth and simple.

Sampled a flight at the brewery in a small plastic cup.

A=Spot on darker red with foamy white head...nice.

S=Malt, cream, and some hops--a bit of a citrus.

T=Moderately strong malt, with honey roasted nut peanuts, honey, a maybe a hint of cherry? Much more flavorful than Kirby's first attempt at an amber, Wisconsin Amber, at Capital. Still, toned down a bit from what it could be to draw more mass appeal.

M=Creamy, sweet, moderate carbonation. Maybe a touch more body for my liking.

O=A strong offering and one that could draw followers. I'd definitely choose this one over Wisconsin Amber, but would still choose my favorite, Lakefront Riverwest Stein, over the WBC offering if sold at the same point-of-purchase.
