Very Good
OktoberfestOktoberfest
Notes: Fall in a glass. Generous amounts of Munich, Vienna, and Pilsner malts are complemented by German Tettnang hops. Prost!

Canned on 8/20/19

Pours a clear dark orange-copper with a slight off-white head that recedes fairly quickly to a thin ring of froth and no lacing.

Aromas of caramel Pop Rocks tone an odd but inherent maltiness in the bouquet; brown sugar, hoppy straw, and bits of toasted bread are steady undertones.

Taste features burnt sugar and brown bread to start, with a malty char coming through over the mid-palate; moderate sweetness building into the finish with toffee and light bread crusts.

Mouthfeel shows a medium-light body with low carbonation; some malty grit and slight sweetness along the mid-palate, and finishes quickly and thinly, but is reasonably drying.

Opens almost sickly sweet, but recovers nicely to a decent malty balance; an eccentric take on an Oktoberfest (even by American standards), this one is mostly cluttered, but unique and fairly enjoyable when it does find its footing.

This one pours a light orange-ish color, with a small head, and lots of lacing.

This one smells like bittersweet caramel, light breadiness, and maybe a bit of honey.

I want a little bit of hop character - i think just the slightest touch would tighten up this beer and make it more well rounded. The malt character feels pretty much right, maybe a little too sweet.

This is light bodied, clean, and crisp-ish, with a decent finish and a nice drinkability.

This feels solidly middle of the road. It's not bad, but makes very little impression overall.

It's an almost clear dark amber with a thin, quick to flee dark beige head that leaves a bare cap in a few minutes.

Medium strength aroma, grainy honey bread meets lightly spiced sweet roll that is very alluring.

Med./full strength taste, which is remarkably the same as the aroma predicts. It is even sweeter than the nose, but it is all about honey bread and spice rolls, well balanced and cleanly presented. Finish has a nice spice and herbal light bitter to it.

Viscous for style, low carb. for style, full bodied for style, with a finish that is a bit oversweet. Had to ding it here. It would benefit from additional carb. and a bit less of a sweet build on palate.

Quite delicious example of the thick and sweet version of the style that uses some righteous Noble hops to balance. Will likely drink this 4pak much too quickly, it's grown on me as I finish this glass.

From a crowler filled at the brewery a few days ago.

Pours near clear, bronzed amber, carbonation on the low side, so just a very moderate head raised and quickly departing, next to no lacing...likely this lack of head is due to the crowler process...giving the benefit of the doubt to the brewery...

Nutty, malty nose

Pleasant enough Oktoberfest, malty sweetness, with maple and vanilla flying their flags....decent stuff...I'd like to try this at the brewery

A: Bright amber maple w/some ruby highlights, slightly hazy. Fluffy finger and half off-white head.

S: Grassy hop smell atop lots of sweet toffee.

M: Sharp, crisp, and biting, and hard for palate to recover to taste sweet malts. Cleaner as it warms. Low-mod carbonation. Not very soft, mellow, and even has a little astringency on finish.

T/O: It has significant hop flavor for a marzen. Slight bitter herbal tones and quite spicy, peppery. Musky grapefruit and dried grass, very toasty. Musky grapefruit and darker fruits did end up complimenting the toffee sweetness from malts. Samples stronger than the ABV suggests. The most complex marzen I've had w/o question.

Pours a clear copper color, visible carbonation, and a moderate bubbly head that soon dissipates.
Aromas of toasted and caramelized malts, dark bread and biscuits. There is a fleeting burst of bright citrusy hops aroma and, throughout, a subdued grassy spice.
Flavors of amber malts, dark bread crusts, toasted malts and toffee. Moderate sweetness balanced by gentle hops bitterness and a grassy and peppery spice in the middle palate. The finish is dry, mostly clean and with a citrus pith linger.
Medium bodied with a moderate carbonation. Smooth drinking and balanced.
A nice example of the style.
