Proper pub north of the Hbf and near my hotel. Warm, friendly, lots of natural light. Looks upscale from the outside but a classic Kölsch pub inside. Happens to be the first day of Karneval so it’s rocking on an early Saturday afternoon. Great food menu with lots of quality regional and traditional German options. Went for the jägerschnitzel that had a mushroom cream sauce and some deliciously fresh thick cut fries. Bartenders were helpful and friendly and spoke great English. Truly delicious Päffgen Kölsch is fresh from a gravity barrel/keg and poured nonstop to make sure you always have a beer. One of the more reasonable 0.2L pours in the city for €1,90. Absolutely top notch!

Stopped on while on a short visit to Cologne to get some authentic German experience. Not easy to find, but when we did we sat right down at a table inside for a late lunch (nearly 2 pm) and were quickly served the Kolsch without even asking. So that’s nice. Ordered the Weiner Schnitzel and it was as expected. Only one beer of course, and the waiter was giving me a hard time when I had yet to drink my whole beer before ordering food. Just having a little fun with me. Overall worth visiting away from the tourist destinations.
