Pours a crimson-hued mahogany with a sliver of fast-falling tan head. Viscious, scant lacing & less head retention

S: Bourbon in spades, figs hiding around the edges, a little chocolate

T: Follows the nose, a little vanilla, caramel & oaky dryness up front. A little fig, caramel, dryness, & Bourbon, plus vanilla & a touch of chocolate too. Finishes with figs, a touch of apricot, Bourbon, vanilla, & oaky dryness, plus a little dark cherry & just a little leafy hop

MF: Medium bodied, near zero carbonation

A nice take on the style, quite frankly I was expecting more, but well worth seeking out

L - Pours a dark brown body with a two finger medium tan head. Good retention and lacing on the carbonation.

S - Some roasted malts and oak up front, mild bourbon and dark chocolate on the back side.

T - Great mix of roasted malts, bourbon, oak and bitter dark chocolate.

F - Medium bodied and medium carbonation. It has a wet finish and is very smooth.

O - For a BA baltic porter, it's legit. Not mind blowing and the flavors are a bit muddled at first but open up as the beer warms. But for a young brewery, it's pretty well done and very drinkable for 10% abv.

A nice strong porter, if a bit hoppy for me. Bourbon and oak come through well on the nose and as it comes up to temperature the beer is sticky and bittersweet. Was hoping for more as I love Great Graft, but really can't be picky about a 10% brew that's unique and tasty.

Thin mouthfeel, prevailing bandaid taste, very little barrel character. Some roastiness, very long and bitter finish. Medicinal as hell. Wanted much fuller mouthfeel, brighter and more specific barrel character. A disappointment.

12oz draft pour, served in a Great Raft snifter. Pours midnight black with just a ring of creamy beige foam that persists throughout. The smell is amazing- toasted oak, bourbon, and vanilla. The taste follows suit, with the oak, bourbon, and vanilla coming together in a perfect balance. The creamy mouthfeel intensifies the experience, leaving just enough behind to keep you coming back for more. The 10% abv is completely hidden in the smooth deliciousness that is Old Mad Joy, well done Great Raft!
