500ml can, day 23 of the Costco Canada 2014 Beer Advent calendar. More hefeweizens for the dead of winter, grandiose, that.

This beer pours a hazy, yet bright medium golden yellow colour, with a roaring tower of puffy, densely foamy, and fairly creamy bone-white head, which leaves a few broad swaths of thickly streaked lace around the glass as it gently subsides.

It smells of doughy wheat malt, banana cream pudding, subtle earthy yeast, indistinct citrus, and a bit of white pepper spice. The taste is bready, grainy malt, a lesser cereal-like wheatiness, banana peel, dried lemon, pithy yeast, and faint peppery and spice notes, that are probably not hop-borne in origin.

The carbonation is decently participatory, and in a genial frothy manner, the body on the light side of medium weight, and a tad gritty and clammy in its wan attempt at smoothness. It finishes quite dry, the bottom falling out from under the malt, while the yeast and fruity notes sit idly by.

Meh - nothing special to see here, folks, the plain-ass hefeweizen carrying most of that burden, but drinking this smack dab in the middle of the holidays just seems wrong. Onto bigger and better things it is, then.

Poured into a Weißbier glass. Hazy yellow at the bottom (thinnest part of the glass) and a lightly dark orange at the top. Beautiful color. Head doesn't remain long.

Smell: Sweet and yeasty, slightly heavy.

Taste: Surprisingly bitter (not in a pleasant way). not sweet. Relatively bland with a bitter/acidic mildly unpleasant aftertaste.

Mouthfeel: Acidic and dry.

Drinkability: Yes, it's drinkable, but not particularly enjoyable. Will doctor up with fresh lemon.

On the upside, the bottle is beautiful.

This beer is an amazingly cloudy and golden. The head is thick and off white with spread out. The aroma has a lot of clove and some herbal esters. The flavor is an odd buttery, corny and has some banana clove tones. The body is somewhat thick. It also has a lot of carbonation that gives it some bite.

This weizen pours with perfect presentation: fluffy white head, with cloudy golden body. Aromas are banana, bubble gum, and slightly perfumy. The flavors detected are of banana and a slight bit of orange. This does feel a litttle bit syrupy and powdery.

Description: Hazy, orange appearance with a fluffy, white head that lingers for a while. The smell is wheat, yeast and a few notes of fruit and pepper, almost like a tripel. There's a slightly bitter finish on the taste (or whatever taste there is; it's pretty bland). The same wheat, yeast and fruit that appear in the smell are also present. Feel is appropriate for the style as it's dry, crisp and thin with moderate to high carbonation.

Overall: 3.5 (This beer is average and I would not likely drink it again) For all the history and fanfare that surrounds Germany's beer culture, I find the beers themselves to be 'blah'. Maybe they were comparatively better before craft beer movement began in earnest but they're just not exciting now. So, Germany, really cool that you have some ancient rheinheitsgebot law, but it'd be a lot cooler if your beer was actually appetizing.

Pours a cloudy pale orange color with a nice big white head. Smells of citrus fruits. The taste is quite watery for a hefe. There is a hint of citrus flavors, but not much else. There is also a faint metallic taste that is unpleasant. There is no aftertaste what so ever. The mouthfeel is medium-thin, thinner than I like a hefe to be. Overall, this brew is smooth, but not a flavorful as I like my hefes.

A-Dark golden color, almost as honey. Unclear.
White foam, but not so tick and big as you could expect from Hefe.
Medium carbonation.
S-Orange, babana, grains and wheat. Sweet aroma.
T/M- Creamy, fool of tastes in the mouth. Tipycal Hefeweiz aroma.
A right amount of carbonation and bitterness. Some sourness.

O- More then decent.

From the bottle, it pours a hazy amber with a nice thick, as expected, white head. Lovely. Some banana and malt in the nose. Somewhat bready taste in the mouth. Yum!

An okay but drinkable beer. Good body with decent carbonation and lacing. Hints of banana bread, citrus, moderate spice.
A little straw aftertaste which is unpleasant. Not my favorite but could be worse.
