This is one of the best craft stores in SW Ohio. It's not much to look at on the outside. Don't be deceived! It's also set back from the road a little and you could overlook it, like I used to. Don't! The owner is one of the few store owners around here who bother to get to know his clientele. He really tries to take care of them. He pretty aggressively goes after cool beers, and does not disappoint on bottle stock or what's on tap. He's got a great filling system that keeps growlers fresh for weeks. I've pushed the envelope and I have personally had some fills go six weeks plus and they are like the day they were filled. Other staff in the store know and like beer and can help get you headed in the right direction. This is a growing store that is already giving the big boys a run for their money. If you go in here you can not only consistently find great beer, but you can actually get some decent advice on what to select. Anyone would feel comfortable here. No snobbery, just great beer and service to go with it.

Cappy's review in Beer Advocate.

Hands-down, without a doubt, the best bottleshop in the greater Cincinnati area. As a matter of fact, it could be argued that Ben at Cappy's has crafted the best shop in the state of Ohio as well. I have traveled this great country from Maine to Florida to Michigan to Texas to California bouncing in and out of bottleshop after bottleshop, and personally have yet to find one that exceeds the merits of Cappy's. Here it is spelled out:
5) Ben has built Cappy's from ground up completely focused on the customer and their ever-changing needs. For six years they have been accommodating my relentless crazy requests with a 100% track record.
4) Cappy's has a 16 tap PEGAS growler fill station stocked with some of the rarest, premium, sought-after craft beers from around the Midwest and the country. PEGAS means you can fly home out-of-state with a growler now -- 30 days of freshness from fill if kept sealed. Pi-yahhh!
3) You will find no pretentious hipsters on a power trip hugging whales behind the counter at Cappy's. The staff is knowledgeable, humble, & completely devoted to the needs of the customer. Ben and mgr Sam run a tight ship.
2) Their selection of fine American craft, Belgians & European beers is impeccable. The stock selection is well-thought out and logically displayed.
1) No dusty bottles here. What I appreciate most of all about Cappy's is their continuous, laser-focused attention to the quality and freshness of the beer they sell. It is doubtful that you'll ever find an out-of-date IPA here...even if it isn't stamped on the bottle. Nothing chaps my a** more, than coming home after beer shopping out-of-state at BA highly rated bottleshops, only to find that all my non-date stamped IPA's and DIPA's have already aged and morphed into a sugary, butter-toffee malt bomb devoid of any remaining hop profile. Cappy's also moves a lot of beer, so their stock is continuously rotating...even the obscure selections as well.

So Cappy's is in a dicey old carry-out store in an old building ... But don't let looks fool you. Walk in and you'll find a great selection of American and European beers, 10 taps ... all down by the wonderful Little Miami River in downtown Loveland. Very surprising find.

This is a great bottle shop! Both the selection and service are exceptional. This is truly a place for lovers of craft beer. The employees like to talk about beer as much as I do. They have an impressive tap list and the most modern growler station I've ever seen. Absolutely the best beer store in the area! They will soon be selling pints of beer so that you can shop and drink at the same time.

Service is unlike any store I have ever been into. Ben has never met a stranger and may not know the most about beer but will never claim to. He, as we all are, is constantly learning more and more every day and strives to carry the best selection of both shelf stuff and limited release stuff. If you spend 5 minutes in his store do not be surprised if 5 people come in who he knows by name. The service, selection and his top notch growler station is what keeps me coming back week after week when there are other shops much closer.

Ben (owner) and staff are extremely helpful, they will go out of their way to make sure you leave the story happy, he even offered to personally deliver a growler of beer to a customer who came for some Waka Waka, but they were having problems with the keg at the time (new growler system, they're going through some growing pains ATM, as the draft system is new to them). I also must add they have one of those growler systems that purges the bottle with CO2 before filling!

Also, the staff regularly checks beers to make sure they aren't out of date, if they are they're taken care of. Ask for something and they will bend over backwards to help you or find an alternative. Genuinely feel like they are trying to recommend beer you might like based on what you tell them, not just trying to sell you something and get you out the door. And no, I do not work there, this place is just that awesome!

Fantastic selection and the staff is just awesome as they truly cater to the customer. Don't forget to bring your growler as the tap selection is stellar. If you are on the eastside of Cincinnati make sure you stop in and pick up some of the freshest beer around.
