4 Oz beer on tap

A: Light straw mild gold with great c.arity and what looks like good carbonation.

S: Light coffee, corn like grain malts

T: Light coffee light malts, a little corn, light grainy finish.

M: Light clean crisp.

O: Not a bad ber but nothing exciting and it has been done much better by others before them. It says this beeris retiredso this could have been an old keg. Didn't taste old though.

If you like coffee you'll probably love this beer. To sum up it's mildly sweet, smooth, but not bitter. It's easy to drink, and a great beer to try if you're looking to introduce someone to craft beer because it's so unique. You can read my full review below.

I purchased the A-Wake Coffee Blond before it had a name to it while I was visiting the brewery in St. Pete and boy, is this a unique beer. So unique that after trying it in a flight I had to buy a howler, wrap it up in bubble wrap and put it in my check luggage to take it home and really appreciate it.

The beer is quite memorable. It's pale and clear, which is odd because the beer isn't light like an IPA, a white wheat or a Hefeweizen, nor is it a traditional American blonde. It has the weight of a brown ale and the taste reminiscent of a coffee stout. The aroma is a very smooth, with heavy, full notes of a blonde roasted coffee, which is quite bizarre when you're looking at something that looks so golden-pale.

As far as taste goes, it really blends the taste of beer and coffee quite well, kind of genre defying, and actually quite delicious. The Coffee Blond doesn't taste very alcoholic, but it is very smooth with a mild sweetness. The beer was not very hoppy. Tasting the beer warm revealed more notes of coffee and light hints of malt like a traditional blonde, without even mild bitterness. The beer is smooth and almost sweet. It's aftertaste doesn't linger but the beer leaves you wanting more--of it because it's very easy to drink. It wasn't overly foamy or flat, just kind of in-between hitting a mild carbonation which allows you to really take it all in, though having the beer warm did lead to a flatness that I found unappealing and rather unenjoyable as over time the beer takes to it's blond base and gives way to almost a mild golden ale flavor. The mouth feel isn't necessarily creamy, but as I stated above it is similar to that of a brown ale but not at all weighty like a stout. I would recommend having and serving the beer cold, it's strongest cold and you get the feel of a cold brew coffee.

I wouldn't improve this beer, it's mild sweetness, and rich coffee taste partnered with it's color make it an experience in and of itself. Of the beers I tried at 3 Daughters this was probably the one that stood out to me the most (in my opinion). Great job, great beer, definitely worth trying if you're in the St. Pete area.

a cool beer because you dont see a lot of coffee pale types out there, but the execution is a step away from being awesome. that said, it was a fun six pack to have in our fridge this week, and i enjoyed this one in several different contexts. neat to even offer a beer like this in a canned sixer, havent really seen much of that. it has a lightly reddish brown color and a fizzy khaki head on it that dissipates before long. the aroma here is its best feature, the earthy and roasty elements from the coffee are on full display with very little grain, yeast, or hops interference from the base beer being so light. i think thats a cool way to feature the coffee, but its off just a bit in the flavor. for one, the coffee is too acidic, so the beer is sharp all the way through, especially if its anything less than ice cold. there is also a lot of bitterness from it, that keeps it from being more of a slammer. that said, there is some malt flavor in the middle to balance, and its not one dimensional. nicely carbonated too, if we could somehow dial back the coffee acidity in the finish, it would be awesome. i liked it best in the morning, as a first beer of the day, it stands up less well to other beers as a mid session drink. i appreciate the uniqueness, and hope this can find the minor tweak or two it needs to be fantastic! i also wonder if freshness may have been an issue for us, others have not reported the same acidity it doesnt seem, and i know coffee can age weird, especially in lighter beers, so maybe some of that is at play...
