Reviewed from (long-standing) notes. Poured from a 22 oz. bottle into an unmarked pint glass.

A: Hazy gold. A big three-finger white head with really good retention, especially for a hoppy beer. A good bloom of visible carbonation at first, but this tapers off quickly.

S: Big sticky resin, citrus rind, oranges and dankness. A touch of grassy character, and some bready malts - but the malts stay in the background, which is different and rather exciting for a “Triple” IPA.

T: Piney resin, the bitterest of citrus rind, and then a sweet boozy orange flavor with a sweet hit of spoon bread malts. The sweet malt flavor fades first, then the ethanol, leaving a fading alpha bitterness with faint citrus flavor in the hang.

M: A fairly light body for a TIPA…I'd say maybe even on the light side for a DIPA, but not watery. Average carbonation, and the alcohol presence is restrained for the “style” – although there’s still a substantial ethanol kick.

O: The so-called Triple IPA hasn’t been a favorite style of mine, and I haven't tried much from Pair O'Dice that I’ve found exciting in any way. But this is really a solid TIPA. I'd pick this over a lot of highly rated ones (Devil Dancer and 120 Minute come to mind).

22oz brown bomber, sample from the brewery.

Lofty head dissipates to a great looking lacing on the glass, clear golden amber hue. Aroma is ridiculous in a good way, a citrus tart shoved up my nose. Smooth with a creaminess that you only see in higher abv drinks, the 10% abv shows in warmth as well but never gets hot or is a burden on the palate. 125 IBUs... yeah ok, I don't have a superhero palate but even then the harshness is not too much. Very juicy with a constant bitterness, hint of caramel and bread in the middle but more rind flavor clears that out. In the big jungle of IPAs this one is clearly well ahead the middle of the pack. Worthy of the hunt.
