Cloudy gold colored beer with a rapidly fading head. Taste is hops and smoky alcohol. Overall an OK beer but not my thing..I doubt I would buy again..

Pours a hazy gold color. 1/4 inch head of an off-white color. Good retention and great lacing. Smells of citrus hops, slight spicy hops, wood, slight sweet malt, and slight liquor. Fits the style of an American Pale Ale. Mouth feel is smooth and clean, with an average carbonation level. Tastes of citrus hops, slight spicy hops, wood, slight sweet malt, and slight liquor. Overall, good appearance, average aroma, but the body is muted and the blend is all over. At first its a little liquor in water, then its a little citrus in water, and finally a little malt in water.

Look: 3.75
Hazy golden color. Decent 1-2 finger head, but fades quickly. Nice amount of lacing that goes on for some time.
Smell: 3.5
Caramel, biscuit, malt, slight hops, nuts, and wood. Lower on aroma.
Taste: 4.0
Slight hop bitterness. Kicks into rich malt, nuts, and bread. The oak and earthiness grows in intensity. Sporadic hints of sweetness, but mostly dry. As the flavors fade out, you are left with a nice campfire flavor.
Feel: 3.75
Medium bodied – quite dry in feeling. A bit on the flat side half way through.
Overall: 4.0
A very nice and enjoyable beer. This is a different twist on a pale ale styled beer that was very interesting. Instead of a stout or really strong barley wine beer, it was good to taste a different style of beer out of a barrel. This is a mellow beer and the barrel flavors really come out.

Pours as a fairly clear orange/gold with a scant head. The aroma is of sweet hops, and the taste is slightly sweet with green/floral hops. There is no oakiness. The carbonation is low and the body is thin. Overall, not a favorite -- a rare miss for New Holland.

Pours hazy amber from 12 oz bottle (bottled 8/8/16, so that's 5 months old). Smell is mild citrus/pineapple. Flavor is pale ale hoppy, not bad for a 4.4% brew. Feel is a bit thin, but decent. Overall an easy to drink pale ale that at the lower end of alcohol content, makes it easy to have a few.

the following review is on a 12 oz bottle stamped08/08/2016 the current review is on my latest purchase dated 01/17/2017.
I was able to retain one bottle from the previous purchase and do a side by side comparison. test date 2.19.2017 the aging aspect of the older beer was minor but present (less carbonation and other non major factors.) but there was some major differences in smell and taste..... the older batch had a much more complex taste. this taste was present when I first drank this batch when it was 4 months old.... the new batch has a much lighter color and is a far less interesting flavor.

i am in love with this beer.... it has a low abv and FLAVOR..... so odd to stumble on beer with so much potential because of those two attributes..... umm keg parties that give you a unique flavor memory. i can see potential in marketing this beer in a totally different way than most craft beers.... this beer can have potential for mass appeal. (craft beer holds a paltry 12% by volume and 21% by dollar of market share.) this beer may appeal to macrobrew drinkers but may offer retention to the brand that many other craft beers dont achieve.

A: The beer is hazy amber yellow in color and has lots of particulates visible floating in suspension. It poured with a short white heat that died down, leaving a thin layer of bubbles covering the surface and a collar around the edge of the glass.
S: Light aromas of pale malts are present in the nose. As the beer warms up, some notes of toasted oak become noticeable.
T: The taste follows the smell, but develops much more flavors of toasted oak and vanilla if you allow it to warm up for a few minutes.
M: It feels light- to medium-bodied on the palate and has a moderate amount of carbonation. As the beer warms up, it also becomes rather smooth on the mouthfeel.
O: At first, I thought this was just another ordinary pale ale and didn’t get hardly any of the barrel aging. But once it warmed up for a few minutes, both the smell and taste started getting interesting and complex.

On tap at BC's Pizza & Beer

A: Pours golden yellow with a frothy whitehead that settles to a firm layer and laces beautifully.

S: Citrus, grapefruit, lemon, floral notes, a touch of oak, and a little light malt.

T: Citrus, grapefruit pith and zest, lemon, a touch of orange, fruity notes, apricot, guava, mango, mild oak, light crackery malt, and just a touch of sweetness.

M: Light to medium body, moderately lively carbonation.

O: Not necessarily what you would expect from a beer with that kind of name, but it's not bad. Despite being a lower % pale ale it came out of the barrels surprisingly drinkable. Makes for a nice change of pace session beer.
