2019 bottle poured into a wine glass. An opaque dark brown color as expected with a very small tan head that left quickly. Aroma was surprising with restrained whiskey notes and big malt character - brownie batter and roasted grain. Taste followed for the most part. A thick brownie flavor met by the barrel. There were some cola notes and a sweetness likely from the malt and the big ABV. Full bodied and gloriously boozy. Enjoyable.

Pours dark chocolate brown with a nice, one finger head. Aroma is nicely oak and bourbon. Taste is chocolate and bourbon, nicely complex and flavorful. Body is to the left of moderate, being on the lighter side, but still carries a very nicely complex character. The ABV at 17% is fairly well controlled but in no way hidden. This is a wonderful beer that i would enjoy again in a heartbeat.

From what I remember, this was a very good beer. Right up my alley on taste, mouthfeel, aroma. Problem being I remember nothing after I stupidly opened a third one. Never again, but not the beer's fault.

Dragon’s Milk Triple Mash from New Holland. 12 oz bottle. Stored at 34 degrees at home. Received from @Whyteboar in NBW BIF #16. Reviewed 31/01/23 (Review 3126). Note that I use DD/MM/YY protocol.
Printed on label “2022 RELEASE” and stamped in shoulder in yellow ink “09/08/21 09:26”. Served at 57.7 degrees in a hand washed and dried Jester King snifter. The final temperature was 61.8 degrees.
Appearance – 3.5
First pour – Medium Amber (SRM 12), clear.
Body – Brown (SRM 30), opaque. Under direct light, opaque chocolate brown with noticeable precipitates. When rear lite, same but xanthous at the edges. By the final temperature, it is slightly translucent.
Head – Average (Maximum two cm, aggressive center pour), wheat, medium density, fizzy, quickly receding to a 0.1 cm bubble ring and several irregular bubble islands.
Lacing – None. Really not expected at 17.3% ABV.
Aroma – 3.5 – Weak bourbon and roasted malt. Slight oakiness and a bit of caramel. No hops, no yeast.
Flavor – 3 – Distinctly bourbon forward, no hops, no yeast. The bourbon drowns out any other flavors although a bit of oak appears in the aftertaste. No ethanol (17.3 % ABV as marked on label) aroma or taste. Initial gastric burning occurs but quickly mellows. No dimethylsulfide or diacetyl.
Palate – 3 – Thin, watery, soft carbonation.
Final impression and summation: 3.5 Disappointing. The appearance was typical of impy stouts in general, so no surprises there. The palate is unpleasantly thin. Bourbon dominates the aroma and flavor profiles to excess. There is little stout present, just cheap bourbon. Perhaps using barrels from a better distillery would have improved the overall experience. It leaves my lips slightly sticky and my fruit fly drinking friends curious but undecided.

Bought two 4-packs back in April 2022. Drank one 4-pack fresh and everyone was phenomenal. Decided to cellar the other 4-pack and wait for the Winter to drink them since we were entering Spring. Started cracking them open in December 2022 and opened the last one 1/7/23. Every single one of the 2nd 4-pack was bad. Flat and tasted off..like spoiled . Not sure if was the 8-9 months of age..maybe this was ment to be drank fresh or it was a bad batch, not sure, but either way at $26 dollars a 4-pack I won’t be rebuying this again. Funny thing is I’ve had regular Dragons Milk that I had stored for a couple years and drank them and they seemed fine.

12 oz bottle poured into a snifter. Pours a medium brown with a thin tan head. Shockingly light-colored for an imperial stout. Aroma and flavor feature notes of cocoa, caramel, bourbon, and vanilla. Some dried fig and a shot of brown sugar sweetness. Maybe a hint of coconut. It's reasonably complex but also very boozy. Mouthfeel is sharp and thin. Overall, not undrinkable but also not something that is worth drinking to me given the abv.

Poured from a bottle at fridge temp. Pours black as night with a light layer of tan head. Tons of bubbles streaming up throughout. The nose is fantastic. Tons of malts, oak, black licorice, brown sugar, and a nice dose of dark fruit. Red grapes, blackberries, and a boozy alcohol note. You can definitely tell the ABV is high from the nose, but I wouldn't guess 17.3% - something closer to 13 or 14.

The taste is pretty hot. Reminiscent of Utopias WWS. Boozy. Bourbon, chocolate, a touch of spice, molasses, raisins, shark oak, charred wood, tobacco, and coffee grounds. Really nice. I could see this improving with another year in the bottle.

Mouthfeel is medium bodied. The aftertaste is a mix of sweet and wood. Overall, really great.

12 oz bottle from 2022 poured into a snifter.
Poured coffee brown and looked black in the glass with ruby highlights. The light brown head appears and disappears quickly.
The aroma was bourbon, then malts. But Bourbon was definitely first and foremost.
The taste rather follows; I think maybe I was expecting more malts (it is triple mashed after all) but bourbon leads and the toasted malts followed meekly with its assorted flavors of coffee and chocolate and vanilla and toast.
The feel, well, again, triple mash implies thicc- and this isn’t. Easily quaffable, just not as aspected.
I enjoyed it, a lot, it just isn’t what I expected. YMMV

On draft at New Holland Pub. Poured an opaque, deep black color with a small, light brown head of foam. It left sudsy sheets of lace on the glass. It smelled of bourbon, charred oak, vanilla, molasses and chocolate. So much bourbon barrel taste with vanilla, oak, dark chocolate and toffee.

12oz bottle labeled 2022 release but stamped 09/08/21 poured into a perfect pint glass at just above fridge temp 17.3% ABV per label. The beer pours very dense black with medium brown colored head. The cola like head recedes to a pencil thin ring and a few tiny bubbles quickly. No lacing. The aroma is moderate in strength featuring fudge brownie, vanilla, light oak and very light bourbon. The taste is bittersweet roasted malt rolling into boozey chocolate, vanilla, oak and bourbon. Moderate bitterness. The mouthfeel is medium bodied with average carbonation and a semi dry finish. It's not overly sweet, but it is rather sticky. The oak and ethanol nicely balance the huge amount of malt here. Overall, very good to excellent Imperial Stout.

Upon prying cap off i get a massive whiff of dark roasted malts that i have never gotten before . As i pour into my glass i get smells of oaky bourbon, chocolate and caramel sweetness.
It pours very light brown and settles black with light brown around the edges. Making me question whether this is a well done triple mash.
First and second sip are big alcohol heat and chocolate bourbon bite. The alcohol is big in this boy and i aint mad at it. Holy shit its hot . I am sure to be drinking this one slow. At 17% I'm not surprised. This is a big, alcohol heat havin, dark chocolate tastin, charred malt assault. Jumping in with both feet .
Mouthfeel is a bit thin which kinda pisses me off cuz for a triple mashed Stout i would expect it to be damn near tree bark chewy. Alcohol burn stays on the tongue for a while .

Overall its a bold move on their part and i tip my hat to them. The mouthfeel is disappointingly thin for a triple mash but i am not a big fan of thick chewy stout so i prolly wouldn't have been to fond of a thicker body . Alcohol heat is very present so tread lightly. Maybe put it away for a year or to and see if it mellows.
If you like big barrel presence in imperial stouts grab one for sure. Let's see what happens after killing this bottle!

12FL. OZ. bottle
Served in a snifter

This beer pours super dark brown with ruby highlights when held to the light. It is topped with a loosely bubbled tan head that disappears quickly.

Caramel, vanilla, chocolate, and booze.

Chocolate, caramel, and vanilla flavor with a nice dose of booze. Very tasty

Medium bodied with a smooth mouthfeel

The booze is well hidden considering the abv. Kinda thin, but I like it.

Surprisingly thin looking, dark brown pour, thin khaki head that was gone in an instant. Snot locker gets some chocolate, roasted malt, a whiff of bourbon. Tasty devil, vanilla, chocolate, dark fruit and roasted grains, some heat as it goes down. Thinner than expected, goes down surprisingly easy at 17.3%. Nice beer, I'll age a couple.

12oz bottle served in a footed pilsner glass. Dated 04/23/19. Received from @superspak in NBS BIF #15.

Pours -- surprisingly -- dark brown, and fairly translucent. Almost no head. I was expecting black and syrupy, a la BCBS. Smell is burning hot. It smells like a liqueur. Aside from that...tons of chocolate, a little wood, faintest smoky whiff. Smells sweet.

Taste is not as boozy as the smell, but still boozy. It only tastes like 10%. Sweetness, chocolate are prominent, but doesn't come across as a pastry stout. I get more vanilla from the flavor than the aroma. I do get some coffee and anise.

Mouthfeel is thicker than it looks, a little chewy. Overall, this is very tasty, and I'm enjoying it. It's going to be interesting to experience its warmup sequence.

Black in color with minimal light penetration. There's a fingernail of brown around the firm and covering a quarter of the top. The aroma is of bourbon, vanilla, and a wallop of dark malt. I'm tasting a wallop of dark malt and bourbon. The mouth is thick, sticky, chewy, and warm with alcohol.

From the 12 oz bottle in a snifter. This fine brew pours a dark brownish
black with a modest head of kahki foam that sizzles to a thin ring and
subtle wispy layer with light lacing. Nose of bourbon, dark chocolate,
vanilla, and oak...nice but rather muted. Flavors hit the mark with rich
warming bourbon, oak, vanilla, dark chocolate, light coffee, subtle char,
and astringent alcohol. Nice mouth feel; medium full body, warming,
light carbonation, and a lightly dry finish.

Overall, very solid addition to the Dragon's Milk line!

Cheers

12 ounce bottle, bottle is stamped with 09/09/21 but the label says 2022 release. 17.3% ABV. Served in a Dragon's Milk chalice, the beer pours dark brown/black with not quite an inch tan head that stuck around a little bit. Decent amount of lacing. I like the aroma, the brew smells like bourbon, vanilla, caramel, roasted malt and some dark chocolate. Taste is similar to the aroma, but with the addition of some oak, boozy, dark fruit and fudge flavors. All the flavors mesh well together with no one flavor overpowering the others. Mouthfeel/body is medium/full, it's slick and a bit rich with a moderate amount of carbonation. It's a little boozy, but doesn't quite seem like it's 17.3% either. Overall I liked this brew a lot, certainly worth trying if you're able to! $27.99 a 4-pack.

Very nice! Had the chance to get this one on tap at the Grand Rapids location. Cola colored liquid in a small snifter. Aromas of wood and vanilla and dark cocoa and roast. Smooth on the nose, and not as heavy an aroma as I thought it would have. Flavor punches with alternately smooth Whiskey Barrel flavors and boozy burns. Sweetness abounds, whether it's dark fruits or cocoa or vanilla.

Poured from a 12 oz bottle into a Dogfish Head tulip. 2017 edition (so rocking 17% ABV)

L: Dark, dark brown pour... nearly black with thin off-white head. Modest ring of lacing.

S: Big and boozy... roast, bourbon, sugars, and vanilla.

T.F: Just like it smells. Super smooth... strong roast grains and burned sugars. Whiskey definitely present and accounted for. Vanilla and chocolate... lighter espresso. Boozy... but not as much as 17% would make you think. Medium bodied... low carbonation. Warming... more complex as it comes up to room temp.

O: A stellar bourbon-aged booze bomb. Delicious... a slow dessert sipper, and definitely a departure from the rest of the 'Dragons Milk' line.
