Notes: Aged with coffee and chocolate. Rich, indulgent chocolate flavors are seductively punctuated with dark and roasty bitterness.

Thanks to Tracy for this brew!

A: Pours light brown, in the glass it is black, with a very small tan head that bubbles out of the body of the brew.

S: Delicious dark and sweet coffee with luscious chocolate, with a bourbon and oak finish. Just delightful.

T: Chocolate and coffee come out first followed shortly by vanilla, oak, and bourbon. The finish is a long lingering caramel Irish coffee with perhaps a touch of dark malt.

M: Medium thin , with moderate to low carbonation. Flavor and aroma are amazing, but I could deal with a little creamier feel.

O: Overall a damn fine beer. Wish the mouthfeel had a little more chew on it, but damn good.

Really great beer. Lots of barrel character with nice notes of cold brewed coffee and dark, bitter chocolate. The mouthfeel was disappointingly thin though. Almost like a porter. Otherwise this was great.

Poured from a 12 oz. bottle into a chalice.

Appearance: Pours a dark brownish black with a moderate amount of bubbles. Slight finger of tan head that quickly fades into a thin patch. Lots of creamy lacing.

Smell: A rich and roasty dark malt driven aroma with a scent of coffee, chocolate, and bourbon. Dark roasted barley malt with a scent of coffee beans, dark chocolate, burnt toast, smoke, biscuit, caramel, and yeast. Barrel hints of bourbon whiskey, vanilla, oak, and wood. Sweet hints of molasses. Also some hints of black licorice and tobacco. Dark fruit hints of raisin and cherry. A really good aroma.

Taste: Like it smells, a roasty and rich dark malt driven taste with notes of coffee, chocolate, and bourbon. Dark roasted barley malt with notes of coffee beans, dark chocolate, smoke, burnt toast, caramel, biscuit, and yeast. Solid barrel presence with notes of bourbon whiskey, oak, vanilla, and wood. Sweet taste of molasses along with some notes of black licorice and tobacco. Dark fruit undertones of cherry, raisin, and fig. A really nice taste.

Mouthfeel: Medium to full bodied with a moderate amount of carbonation. Creamy, silky, and slightly syrupy. Alcohol heat is masked very well.

Overall: A very good take on a Barrel Aged Coffee Stout. Good blend of coffee, chocolate, and barrel flavors.

Chocolate + coffee + bourbon = a really good beer.
Dark brown black with little head.
You can smell the chocolate, bourbon & coffee. One does not over take another.
Tastes of chocolate with bourbon in the back and it has a nice creamy mouthfeel.

Appearance - pours jet black with thin tight tan head that settles to a rocky cap. Spotty lacing.

Aroma - Huge rich chocolate aroma, mild black coffee, vanilla, roasted malts, hint of bourbon, oak. Rich decadent aroma almost dessert like with a touch of bitter coffee.

Taste - Oh yeah wow so where to start bitter coffee hits first with a touch of roasted malt. Next up is rich sweet chocolate and light vanilla followed by a punch in the mouth of bourbon and oak. the bourbon flavor is big but everything is so well balanced the flavors come through in stages.

Feel - Big smooth creamy feel. Warming from the bourbon with a pretty dry finish.

Overall - Love this version huge coffee and chocolate combine with wonderful bourbon.

Bottled on 3/31/16 and poured into a snifter.

The appearance is pitch black in the glass with little to no head retention.

The aroma is roasted coffee, chocolate, bourbon, oak, some sweetness and a hint of alcohol spice.

The taste is sweet and rich with chocolate and coffee obviously up front along with the bourbon bite. Also some roasted bitterness comes through.

The palate is medium full with lingering bourbon heat that works well with the bitterness from the coffee.

Overall this is a really good and probably my favorite variant of dragons milk.

A - Dark body, some transparency on the edge, tan head fading quickly to nothing. No lacing.

S - The nose is chocolate, some sweet malt, slight acidity, presumably from coffee.

T - Full of chocolate and malt milk ball, with some bean acidity and alcohol on the finish.

M - Pretty light on the tongue, scrubs the tongue with mild acidity and warmth on the close.

O - This had over 2 years on it, and the lush flavor of chocolate survived, but the coffee has faded, so it is not perhaps all it once was. That said, I found it both tasty and still quite drinkable.

12 ounce bottle into snifter, bottled on 10/9/2015. Pours nearly pitch black color with a small dense tan head with decent retention, that reduces to a thin lace cap that lingers. Light spotty lacing clings around the glass, with a moderate amount of streaming carbonation retaining the cap. Aromas of huge dark roasted coffee, dark chocolate, cocoa, vanilla, toffee, molasses, toast, dark bread, bourbon, oak, light dark fruit, and oak/roasted earthiness. Fantastic aromas with awesome balance and complexity of big coffee/chocolate, dark/roasted malt, and bourbon barrel notes; with great strength. Taste of big dark roasted coffee, dark chocolate, cocoa, vanilla, toffee, molasses, toast, dark bread, bourbon, oak, light dark fruit, and oak/roasted earthiness. Light roasted bitterness and oak spiciness on the finish; with lingering notes of coffee, dark chocolate, cocoa, vanilla, toffee, molasses, toast, dark bread, bourbon, oak, light dark fruit, and oak/roasted earthiness on the finish for a while. Damn nice complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/roasted malt, coffee/chocolate, and bourbon barrel flavors; with a great roasted bitterness/sweetness and oak spiciness balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Light-medium carbonation and medium-full bodied; with a very smooth, moderately creamy/silky, and lightly sticky/chalky mouthfeel that is great. Alcohol is very well hidden with only a small warmth lingering after the finish. Overall this is an awesome barrel aged coffee stout. All around great complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/roasted malt, coffee/chocolate, and bourbon barrel flavors; and very smooth to sip on for the big ABV. The nose was better than the taste, which had a huge amount of earthy/fruity roasted coffee presence; but the taste was still very impressive. A highly enjoyable offering.

2016 bottle. This is an awesome BA stout. Smells of coffee, chocolate and bourbon. It's kind of thin and it tastes the same as the nose. This was very well done

Stumbled across this and decided to give it a try. I'm not a huge fan of Dragon's Milk, but it does serve a purpose with its easy availability and consistency. I love coffee and chocolate so I figured, why not?

Look- Pours a thin cola brown color with a small finger of mocha foam. Looks like a soft drink.

Smell- Bakers chocolate forward with some faint coffee notes.

Taste- Milk chocolate up front followed by some coffee. I'm not detecting any barrel characteristics whatsoever. There is a touch of bitterness in the finish with some alcohol burn. I also get some wet cardboard while drinking this bottle down. Perhaps some barrel?

Feel- Very thin with some bitterness in the back.

Overall- A pretty good beer loaded with chocolate and some coffee flavor. I'm not sure how long this was in a barrel, but it could use more bourbon flavor to round it out. As it stands, it's a thin bodied Breakfast Stout or perhaps High Westified at a rather premium $17 price. Worth a try if you like this style and don't mind dropping the coin.

Really enjoyed this stout......although I got very little bourbon in terms of smell and taste. Instead, I got a BA stout that came across as a solid imperial coffee stout. Feel was more silkier and thick than the regular version. Look was deep brown with little to no head. Overall, I liked this much more than the other dragons milk variants.

Whoa, you definitely get what they promise on the bottle. Pours deep black, thin rim of head. Smell is of... Coffee and more coffee. Maybe some raisin. Taste is... coffee. A little bit of chocolate. This is chocolate covered coffee beans. Overall, I don't like coffee, this is not my thing. It may be yours, and if it is, I'm sure you'll love it.

12oz bottle poured into a snifter, bottled 10/6/15

A- pours a pitch black color with some light creeping through with a small foamy tan colored head that reduces to a thin ring around the edge of the glass

S- fresh, slightly burnt herbal coffee mixes with dark chocolate, fudge browny batter, caramel, campfire ash and underlying notes of bourbon & oak

T- flavor up front is dominated with roasted coffee and chocolate sweetness, followed by sweet caramel notes, along with dark nutty fudge. The bourbon barrel comes through near the finish, providing some barrel juice, along with woodsy oak. Lingers of bourbon and chocolate

M- medium body with moderate low carbonation leads to a foamy mouthfeel and a slightly thin finish, slight ABV warmth on the linger

O- coffe & chocolate and welcomed additions to the base beer. It isn't world class, but very enjoyable and one that I would try again
