12 oz bottle.
Pours with a good beige head over an opaque near black body.
I'm a big fan of Dragon's Milk but not of chai. Not surprisingly then, I like this less than the original and some of the other variants. It is, nonetheless, very good, and it's almost exactly what I would expect. There's an obvious but not overpowering contribution of chai spices and vanilla, with the base Dragon's Milk clearly present.

Poured from a 12 oz. bottle into a chalice.

Appearance: Pours midnight black with a moderate amount of bubbles. Slight finger of tan head which settles into a thin creamy layer.

Smell: A rich and roasty dark malt driven aroma with a scent of oak, vanilla, spices, tea, and chocolate. Barrel scent of oak, vanilla, bourbon, and wood. Fall style spice scent of cinnamon, nutmeg, cardamom, clove, and ginger along with tea. Dark roasted malt scent of chocolate, coffee, toast, biscuit, caramel, and toffee along with some yeast. Sweet scent of molasses, syrup, and more vanilla. A very good rich aroma.

Taste: Like it smells, a roasty and rich dark malt driven taste with notes of oak, chai tea, vanilla, spices, and chocolate. Barrel notes of oak, bourbon, vanilla, and wood. Notes of tea with spice notes of nutmeg, cinnamon, clove, cardamom, and ginger. Dark roasted barley malt with notes of chocolate, coffee, biscuit, toast, toffee, and caramel with yeast. Sweet notes of vanilla, molasses, and syrup. Hops are pretty light. A really good taste.

Mouthfeel: Full bodied with moderate amount of carbonation. Creamy, slick, and fairly syrupy. Alcohol heat is hidden very well.

Overall: Another really good twist on Dragon's Milk. Nice mix of spices with the vanilla flavor.

12oz bottle from Sprayberry Bottle Shop (Marietta,GA). 4.29. Bottled 1/20/16. Served in appropriate fluted New Holland stemware.

Pours a dark chocolate, cola brown with a three quarter finger cap of sand hued foam. The froth recedes to some slight clouds and a chunky crown that imparts only a few sparce clumps of lace.

The opening scent of warm vanilla bread pudding gives way to chocolate, chai spice, soft bourbon, oak and some faint brown sugar.

Chai is significantly more prominent in the flavor, backed by vanilla bean, bourbon, salted caramel fudge, creamed coffee, wet wood and a soft but unrelenting nip of alcohol. Everything works well together and this is about as easy drinking as a barrel aged imperial stout can be.

Silky, smooth medium body with softish carbonation. Aftertaste of bourbon caramel glazed chai fudge brownies.

This is a tasty new addition to the consisitently solid Dragon's Milk lineup. The pleasantly mellow base serves as a great vehicle to deliver the smooth flavors of vanilla and chai. More good stuff from New Holland.

pours a chocolate black color with a tan head , smells of garden herbs with vanilla wood and cardamon then some herbal spice tea, taste is very good a bit thin for a BA stout but none the less tasty with spice vanilla and slight bourbon , the mouth feel was on the sweet side but the finish and overall is worth seeking this out to try.

With the exception of our friend with the toasted chiles, these variants have been a resounding success in my belly; I’m expecting another. 12 oz. glass.

The pour is reddish black & fizzes out quickly. This smells awesome & veers sharply from standard big-stout territory. Yes, there is vanilla & bourbon & rich malts, but the chai (I presume) brings ginger, cardamom, & other spices less brazen. Lovely.

Dragon’s Milk – Vanilla Chai is as confusing as a RenFest Six Sigma project. Concentrate, & you can imagine yourself in a glade filled with the base beer: malty, sweet, lightly bourbon-brushed. Allow your attention to wander & the guys in wrap pants wander by bearing vanilla that veers towards medicinal, heavy spicing with roots in ginger, cardamom, & pepper, all spiked with a healthy dose of alcohol. Ginger really sticks. Thick. One glass of this might have been proper to have split with a good friend. OK, maybe just a decent friend.

Great. Now I’m belching spices. The ratio is just a touch off here, as it warms, the chai picks the base beer up & slings it out the door, bouncer-style. Not bad, but I think there’s an amazing beer that could have been had with a touch more balance. Still, a good brew.

Good, but the regular version is better IMO. Still worth a try if you like Dragon's Milk.

Enjoyed on tap. Pours an opaque deep brown with a minimal tan head.
Aroma is loaded with vanilla, hints of chocolate, roasted coffee and cardamon.
Vanilla leads the taste on my palate followed by chocolate and roasty notes, then hints of spice including cardamon and a bit of a bourbon kick. Quite sweet. There is a slight burn in the back of the throat at the finish of the swallow. Doesn't seem like booze, more like black pepper.
Mouthfeel is thin to medium and slightly sticky.
Pretty tasty.

It's really, really sweet. Probably the sweetest stout I've ever had. Made me feel a little sick. But very tasty flavor.

Appearance - Pours dark, near black, cola brown with a coca powder colored, half finger width head. Sub-par retention results in a mostly barren surface with an island of suds found in the middle of the glass and a razor thin ring around the edge. No lacing found aside from a small handful of tiny spots.

Smell - Follows the promise of the label - prominent chai spice (cinnamon and whatnot) upfront with lesser vanilla. Underlying chocolate and some sweet bourbon qualities.

Taste - Follows the nose. Plenty of chai flavors upfront and throughout with mild vanilla sweetness. Underlying chocolate adds a nice, subtle base. A hint of bourbon mid-taste, and a bit of milk chocolate in the finish. Aftertaste lingers with the aforementioned flavors, but chai spices still hold firm.

Mouthfeel - Medium-bodied with moderate carbonation. Silky smooth texture. Goes down stupid easy for 11%. Warms the belly slightly. A bit thin, but can't deny the smoothness.

Overall - Interesting brew, and mostly enjoyable, though I think the chai dominates too much of the total experience. The chai spices, I will say, do well to compliment the warming sensation of the bourbon character. Ultimately though, not my ideal BA impy stout.

A - Pours dark with a 1/4" of tan, creamy looking head.
S - The aroma is full of chai spice.
T - The flavor is quite interesting with the chai spices, vanilla and some chocolate.
M - Very creamy with low carbonation.
O - I love stouts, and I really like the different flavors in this one.
