On-tap 6/26/2016 at Flynn’s in Mansfield, MA, served in a tulip glass.
A: The beer is a light gold color, with a large off-white head that fades slowly and leaves a thick but spotty lace on the glass.
S: The aroma is faint but contains light caramelized malts, citrus and a touch of hops.
T: The taste starts out bready with flavors of wheat and a hearty but not too heavy malt character. Then some sweetness comes in from flavors of caramel, citrus and faint blueberry. The hops presence is mild but complementary and brings a decent balance. The after-taste is slightly bready and slightly sweet.
M: Crisp and a little smooth, medium body, medium carbonation, finish is slightly sticky.
O: A little tasty, goes down easily, not too filling, mild kick, decent representation of style, this is a decent beer to drink for a while.

Today is New Beer Sunday (Week 664) & my original intent was to drink some beers from Detroit, MI that made up a part of The Bottle Backlog here at Chez Woody. Having accomplished my initial plan, I am now keeping it real with a continued visit to Michigan.
From the bottle: "A refreshing and aromatic Golden Ale. Tropical notes of Mosaic hops and bright citrus of coriander complement the rounding smoothness of blueberries from Michigan's dune-laden west coast."; "Pairings: Salmon, Pork, Basil, Mint, and Fruit Crisps a la Mode."
Salmon AND pork?!? I am dubious. I really want to make something in the crock pot for Thanksgiving in a couple of weeks, but that pairing seems rather odd.
Well, here I am with another bottle. It would be an injustice to do anything other than Pop! the cap & perform a slow, gentle pour into the awaiting glass at the approaching end of the day. Once completed, I gave the beer a vigorous in-glass swirl to raise just under two fingers of foamy, rocky, bone-white head with moderate retention. Color was solid Gold (SRM = 5) with NE-quality clarity, ensuring a return visit from The Gelt Gang of Midas, Mammon & Croesus, all wanting a taste. Nose was akin to the earlier Atwater Brewery's Blueberry Cobbler Ale, but with an edge. The softness of the fruit was somehow spicier. I have a couple of buddies ho are really into spice & peppers & while this might not even register with them, I caught something on the nose. Mouthfeel was thin-to-medium, not watery, but with a peppery tingle. The was definitely NOT a simple Fruit/Vegetable Beer! Finish was both fruity & spicy, dry in its totality. Very nice!
