I haven't had a Mad Hatter and quite awhile, so I decided to have one and take some notes. This was a favorite on trips to Michigan before I could find it around Chicago.

This Mad Hatter pours an amber-orange hue with a persistent eighth-inch of of white foam on top. There's not much to say about the nose on this beer; there's a bit orange blossom fruitiness. The flavor is good with caramel malts mixing well with citric hops. The mouthfeel is smooth, but the body seems a bit light for an IPA. As I sip away, some little bits of lace is left on the sides of my glass enhancing the appearance. I like the balance between the hops and malt. The finish is assertively bitter and long, with a bit of sweet malt stickiness. Overall, this is a very enjoyable IPA. I think I got a hold of an especially tasty and fresh bottle of this beer.

Pours a hazy, dull orange with a slightly off white head
with superior side glass lace and good retention.

Aroma: leads with citrus hops. along with some bready malts.

Taste: More of the same, citrus with notes of grapefruit and spicy hops
balanced with toasty malts. Nicely balanced IPA.
Has a dry bitter finish.

Very much like the redialed 2015 variety...great aroma from the (all Michigan) grown hops. I think that is pretty cool. Little bit of extra malt then I prefer, but a very solid IPA. Will definitely purchase again when seen fresh in the store.

Clear golden color, with a small snow-white head and modest carbonation.

A immediate and juicy citrus smell. Also feel some subtle caramel in the nose. Great smelling beer

Taste is dominated by bitter hops and malt. The citrus character prevalent in the smell is not at all as present in the taste. I detected a sourness in the aftertaste as well. A disappointment after the glorious smell.

Carbonation is quite light, as this remains a very drinkable beer.

Paid $11 for a sixer.

Very hazy dark amber with a lot particulate. Great citrus aroma with predominantly citrus hoppy bitterness in taste. Malty enough to not be a complete hop bomb, but very little sweetness from the malt. Lower carbonation and slick feel. Really enjoyable IPA.

very underrated IPA, enjoyed 2 of these with some meatloaf and mash potatoes after getting off work at 11pm.

just enjoyed 2 of these with baby back ribs, hamburger, hot dog, and NJ sweet corn.

a very grapefruit forward aroma and fantastic citric taste. maybe it's me but i love centennial hops. i never had this before it was "updated" but the new update has made this beer fantastic, it might be my new go-to ipa

Wow. The reformulation is no joke here. Lots of citrus and some tropical fruit with an assertive, yet not over the top bitter finish. This is a very underrated IPA. For the cost and availability, it's up there with Two Hearted for me. 90+ is a no-brainer here.

Holy hop aroma. Intense hop aroma as soon as popping the top. Poured into glass and the hop aroma kept building. Some citrus and some pine.

A bit hazy in appearance. Taste was sweet, almost with some honey and some biscuit. Citrus and pine hop flavors to counter. Pretty well balanced. But maybe a little sweet after taste.

A huge upgrade over mad hatter 1.0!

On Tap at the Happy Gnome, St. Paul, MN.
As IPAs go, I can say this was above average. Much carmel malt, fruity, sticky hops were what this beer was all about, bready and very well balanced, I could've had 5-6 of these (too bad I was sober cab). Had a nice aroma, but I could've used a little more hop intensity bitterness-wise. Very good, i am glad I found this, I did not know New Holland had made it to minnesota yet.

Acquired via trade from feloniousmonk, so a big “Thank you” goes out to him. Poured from a 12oz. bottle into a US tumbler pint glass.

A: The beer is a deep amber color, with a short off-white head that fades slowly and leaves a thick lace on the glass.

S: The aroma is a nicely blended mix of floral hops, fruity citrus and caramelized malt.

T: The taste is well-balanced with flavors of citrus and caramel sweetness and a pleasant but not over-powering hops bitterness, all of which compliment each other well. There’s a hearty malt character but it’s not too heavy. The after-taste is slightly sweet and slightly hoppy.

M: Smooth and very crisp, medium body, medium carbonation, finish is very clean.

D: Very tasty, goes down easily, not too filling, good kick, very good representation of style, this is a very good IPA. I could see myself drinking several of these over the course of an evening.

Mad Hatter pours a clear orange color with hues of gold. Rockin a large, fuzzy, white hat.

Lots of lemony citrus, pineapple, and piney hops in the nose, with sweet caramel malts flowing beneath.

Solidly medium body with loads of oily, creamy, and fine carbonation. Toasted and biscuity malty flavors compliment the lemony citrus and earthy pine hops. Bitterness is light.

I liked this one okay, it has a great look and mouthfeel, but it seems a bit muted. Nice balance though and no major faults.

This is a very tasty IPA, The aroma and flavor are both wonderfully designed. There is a slight fruity taste to it along with a caramel profile as well. This is one of my new favorite IPA's just tried it recently for the first time and I really found a beer that I will get again.

Translucent copper; fresh, hoppy bubblegum citrus in the nose. Flavor has a very woody malt profile with notes of pine and a crisp bitter hop finish. Very well balanced and not overdone in any way. Tingly, chalky mouthfeel that finishes on the dry side. Not a hop monster in any way, but surely a wonderful session IPA.

Appearance: Pours a golden-amber color with a very foamy, but thin head that leaves behind a lot of lace.

Smell: Pine and citrus are apparent. Not the most impressive smelling IPA I've had, but not bad either.

Taste: Pine and citrus are again apparent with a definite malt backbone there to balance the bitterness. Overall, very crisp and dry tasting.

Mouthfeel: Smooth and slightly creamy with a medium body.

Drinkability: Pretty decent. Overall, a very solid beer. Not the best IPA I've had, that honor still belongs to Bell's Two-Hearted, but a good session beer nevertheless.

There are so many awesome IPA's out there, that it's getting difficult to pick favorites. But this is the beer that got me into IPA's, so I hold it close to my heart, err, stomach.

On Draught, on location, is the absolute best you can get it. I swear they do something different with the beer they have on premise vs sold in bottles and kegs. I haven't put my finger on it yet tho.

In any case, this bottle poured great head, and it stuck around for awhile. Smells awesome (cascade?), it finishes very clean, maybe too clean for most hard-core IPA fans.

Consider using this beer as a gatewaybrew to convert your non-IPA loving friends!
