Poured from a bottle into a lager glass. Pours a dark copper, Almost amber color with a one finger head. It leaves piles upon piles of lacing throughout the glass. Smells strongly of grapefruit with a wee bit of pine and some maltiness coming through. Although my explanation cannot do it justice. This beer smells delicious. The taste is that of the sweetest IPA that I have ever experienced. Grapefruit, Lemon, very mild hops, and a mild maltiness. You just have to try it for yourself. The mouthfeel allows some more hops to come through, And some more malt, Although it retains the mentioned flavors. Over all, a great beer for those who want to step into craft beers, and beer snobs alike. A masterpiece in my opinion, Almost THE perfect beer.

This is right up there as one of the best IPAs I have ever had. Just so fresh and delicious. Thanks to Frozensoul327 for picking out a lesser known brewery for me to try. Wow !!

The balance and complexity of this beer are what make it really stand out. This IPA has a stack of flavor. Beautiful maltiness with a strong hop presence both in the nose and on the tongue. There is definitely a beautiful blend of different hops in here and they are so balanced out with the malt, it is almost perfect. I bet its even better on-tap. Can we please get this shit distributed to MA ??Immediately !!!!

Great head on this one. Staying power and lacing is long lasting. Be careful on first pour. Go too fast and your beer looks more like a rootbeer float. Hops taste is not overpowering with it's nutty flavor. Aftertaste stays with you encouraging another drink or even another bottle.Color has a great cloudy appearance that is dark and golden. Looks as good as it tastes. I could easily make a short night of these beauties.

Bronze, deep copper color with alots of suspended sediment, a full beige head, decent carbonation, and sheets of lace. Very nice citrusy grapefruit hop aroma. Good malt balance for the huge hop rate; nicely balanced !! Medium-full bodied and creamy with a finish that is not too bitter.

Wish I had more than one of these - an IPA to drink all day !!

per N.H.B.Co. website: Munich, Caramunich, and Carapils Malts. Nugget and Centennial hops. O.G. 1065. IBU 52.9 !!

From the bottle, it poured with lots of creamy off-white head from the start which lasted extrodinarily long compared to most of what I've had in a bottle. Lots of dense clingy lace till the bottom of the pint glass. Clear amber in color, it has a big citrus-grapefruit nose. Lots of hops on first taste with a strong medium bodied finish and noticeable hops in the end. Could have easily had another. One of the best bottle AIPAs I've had.

I left the Pacific Northwest knowing that I'd be leaving behind many great IPAs. I headed to the Midwest hoping I'd find many more. So far I've tasted Founders All Day IPA and swooned. Best session IPA I've tasted!

And now to try New Holland's offering. I used to do open mic nights at their brewpub many moons ago (before I could appreciate beer, no less!). Finding a six-pack of this at World Market (plus 20% off!) was enough to get me try this out. I have enjoyed each beer more than the last. Have to say, this is considered by my picky IPA taste buds to be one of the best, hands down.

Good work, New Holland! Keep 'em coming!

Appearance is hazy amber-orange with an off-white head. Decent lacing. Aroma is full of orange and citrus hop that hits you right away. Taste is amazing. Once again, orange and citrus hop are right up front but it's very smooth and not sour or harsh. Bitterness is also not too harsh and along with a decent malt backbone the finish is smooth with a touch of sweetness. A very smooth and drinkable IPA. I enjoyed it immensely.

This is an amazing IPA! It is a full-bodied, incredibly hoppy beer. It has a fantastic balance between bitterness and sweetness that sets it apart from other IPA's. It pours with a solid golden color and alittle head. It smells of hops, tastes of hops, and finishes of hops. I can't recommend this beer enough!

Poured from a 12 OZ bottle into a pint glass. The appearance is a murky orange to amber color with a large off-white head. The aroma is hops, citrus and malt. The taste is a very nice citrus and malt blend.

6 pack. No freshness date.

Not a big fan of the label, but I am a HUGE fan of this beer. I dig the New Holland logo on the cap a lot, but the crazy mad hatter guy on the label looks silly. But looks can be misleading, because this is my favorite IPA.

Sexy little bubbles, sensual american hoppy-goodness aroma, golden-amber color with a very slight haze.

Crisp, hoppy, refreshing taste. Very drinkable, and a good clean mouthfeel. This is my first review, so I will work on my beer vocab, but I know what I like. Give this great midwestern example of an American IPA a chance... you won't be sorry.

A: Pours a transparent copper color with a nice khaki head. Leaves the glass void of any lacings.

S: It has a zesty citrus smell to it. Piney. I notice a little caramel malt undertone, but its definitly overruled by the hop abundance.

T: The taste is awesomely hoppy as well. It has a Lime-Citrus zing to the flavor, but not an overly bitter one. Flavorful, yet very smooth and easy to drink for a beer of this style. Very piney aftertaste.

The mouthfeel has good carbonation. Not that its thin, but it could be fuller. Drinkability is superb. I could easily drink this all day. Most IPAs or other heavily hopped beers take a toll on my tastebuds after more than a couple of them, but this one doesnt seem to tire me.

Really a terrific brew. Must try if you get the chance. Cheers!

Appearance: murky bronze color, short, white head, rather typical IPA look
Aroma: now we're talking, big, BIG, B-I-G! with the hops, fat with fruit, bitter, yet sweet, and complex, a cornucopia of citrus and peach, pineapple and more. Juicy!
Taste: hugeness returns in the flavor department, healthy hop content, with a firm presence on the palate, sticking to and playing with the palate. Warm and winning, this is a most excellent IPA, reminding me of a former favorite (but only because it's left our market) Three Floyds Alpha King. Long, hoppy finish, ever-so tasty, profoundly satisfactory.
The only thing I'd change is the amateurish artwork on the label.
This one would have an honored spot in my fridge, if it were only available in MN. Thanks to jeffboo for smuggling some across the state border from WI!

Poured from a 12 oz. bottle. Left a two finger head with some good retention, and some good lacing. Body is red-copper amber. Looks really good.

Smell - hops. Nose is filled with juicy grapefruit. Also some piney resin, and a hint of toasty malt. Mouthwatering.

Taste - same as the smell. Pine resin on the start, but quickly gives over to juicy grapefruit. Barely there tastes of toast and caramel, temporarily assert themselves before being washed out with more juicy grapefruit. Some bitter pine again on the finish.

Mouthfeel - full, low carbonation, smooth. A little bit drying from hop bitterness.

Drinkability - this is excellent beer, and it goes down well. It is most sessionable.

I grabbed this on a return trip to Michigan, since I had not seen it locally available. Tremendous AIPA! One and one-half lush fingers of durable white foam coat the glass with dense rings of foam lacing. The aroma is lush with citrus hops, boding well for this already. If you love hops, it's impossible not to love the taste of Mad Hatter IPA--grapefruit, lemon, orange--an excellent combination of the sweet citrus and the somewhat gritty texture of heavy hop load. Delicious, and somewhat of a quaffer, though this is one to patiently savor.

Complex, well-hopped, semi-sweet. Bravo, one of the better IPA's I've ever had. Highly recommended.

I could drink this all night long. Poors a nice amber, with a thin head but lots of lacing. Head stays for a while as well. Smells wonderful, loads of hops, nice piney smell, but the story here is the taste. BAM! Hops all over, fantastic, strong pine taste upfront, just perfectly bitter. This is a crisp and refreshing beer, I could drink these for days. Truly one of my favorites and hightly recommended.

Pours a clear medium orange amber color with finger head and lots of lacing all around.

Scent is wonderful full of citrus/grapefruit, pine needles, grassy, with some light sweet malt tones.

Taste is very nice with the malt up front, just for a bit then the hop kick is incredible, piney, grapefruit that is balanced perfectly with the sweet malts. This one finishes dry with a long lasting hop bitterness.

Mouthfeel is light to medium bodied very smooth, and lightly carbinated.

I could drink these all day. The abv is just right for a session beer and the flavor and mouthfeel is perfectly suited to this beer. I will enjoy these often.

A murky amber orange below a frothy white head.

Floral and sweet juicy hops accompany a sweet malty backdrop. Perfectly balanced.

Perfect. Stone IPA went up to the test against this and it failed in comparison I guess. Mad hatter is fierce hoppy goodness. Floral and malty, this one stands up to the best IPA's in the land. Celebration Ale/Alpha King step aside, Mad Hatter is here to be crowned the king.

Perfect carbonation, perfect mouthfeel, if Alpha King or Two Hearted stood up against this in a blind tasting it would be demolished. You could drink this all day

An excellent IPA, this one isa very nice deep golden color with cream colored foam topping it off. Very nice, fresh citrus/earthy hop aromas pour out of the glass, resiny, slightly smokey with some malt in the backround. Medium bodied brew with a nice, complex malt profile entwind with citrus hops and a solid bitter finish. The nice hop flavors are balanced nicely with caramel, toasty malts that is oiley in texture finishing dry. Bring me another!

a very grapefruit forward aroma and fantastic citric taste. maybe it's me but i love centennial hops. i never had this before it was "updated" but the new update has made this beer fantastic, it might be my new go-to ipa

Pours deep amber with an inch of white foam. Smell is dominated by hops, with a background of malt. Taste is again domnated by hops, but rounds out with a nice malty touch. Perfect to what I expect out of an IPA. Very smooth with a tingle of carbonation that disappears mid swallow, very nice. Very drinkable for hop heads. Smooth and refreshing, best served just under cellar temperature.
On a separate note, probably the most flavorful burp ever!

L: Pours reddish amber with a slight haze under a thin off-white foam collar that grips the side of the glass.
S: resiny Pacific Northwest hops
T: Malty with an assertive bitterness. Caramel, peach to apricot, starts sweet and then the hops enter in and dry out the finish with a slight astringency.
F: medium body, medium high carbonation O: Easy to drink big flavored beer.

A: Mildly hazy copper/orange color. Nice head and moderate lacing.

S: Grapefruit, mild pine hop aroma is pleasant. Mild toasted malt grains.

T&M: Nice and crispy. Smooth with a medium body. Well-balanced hop and malt flavors. Mild bitterness as well. Finishes semi-dry with a long lasting hop flavor.

I must've gotten a fresh bottle because this is the best bottled IPA I've had in months!
I'd love to try it fresh to see if it is superior to most.

Really a great beer! I am not 100% sure what the piney lemony to me 90s taste is.....but this beer has it and I really like it!! aftertaste is very smooth and dry as well. I wish I got a little more alcohol for the money! 12$ for a 6! and only 5.25%! but it still tastes great! I would love to try it on tap somewhere! I am on my 2nd 6 pack of this and that is rare for me!

This is an excellent IPA and what I really like about it is that they are not trying to overwhelm you with a hoppy flavor. This is probably one of the best IPAs I have had in regards to balance and for me, has a really nice undertone of a belgian wheat flavor.
