Not a bad IPA but not amazing. On the lighter side. Good summer beer.

Golden orange hue with a puffy head. Pine, grapefruit, tobacco, toasted malt. Hefty bitterness balances the citrus. Spicy aftertaste - nice surprise that adds to the complexity of the brew. Slight alcohol presence combines with the hops to leave a lingering warmth on the palate.

Not horribly impressed, to be honest. Head is weak, though the lacing on the glass is pretty nice. Crystal clear like apple juice, which is unusual in an IPA. The taste is pretty bland, and the IBUs just not up there where a good IPA ought to be. It drinks smooth - too smooth, really. Has the mouth feel of a "soft" brown ale, rather than the pungent bite of a Citra-hopped IPA that I was expecting. I'm quite surprised the IBUs come in at 65 (according to the packaging of the 6-pack I bought tonight) - feels like something more in the 40's. I'm not getting any pine, citrus, or any particular IPA-like flavor with this one. Won't be buying it again any time soon.
