Dark candy brown, with burgundy hue. A fluffy white head leaves behind significant lacing with great head and lace retention.

Thick caramel and chocolate malt accents, with hints of toffee, and a slight nuttiness.

Big flavors of hazlenut with fresh toffee, mouth coating caramel and chocolate malts, very delicious creamy mouthfeel. Drinkable to no end.

At the brewpub:

The beer poured a dark deep russett color, almost black. It created a snow white bubbly head that left latticed lace as it subsided. An aroma of malt, coffee and slightly of chocolate. The flavor was of malt, anise and slightly of coffee. It had a fairly light body with a sprite finish. Not a bad alt, but was surprised at how dark it was.
