Raspberry dominates the nose and the palate. There may be touches of hibiscus, but the delicate floral character is mostly lost behind the sharp, slightly sour fruit.

Similarly, the traditional barrel characteristic of Dragon's Milk is not particularly notable. The heavy malt base comes through with a chocolate and coffee character, and in particular on the thick, creamy mouthfeel - perhaps the beer's best feature.

I really enjoyed this brew, despite the heavy raspberry presence. Fans of the berry should be quite pleased here.

On the pour you have a nice 1-2 finger-tip length of head, which is tan in color. The beer itself pours with the standard dark stout color. However, this stout stands out with a slightly mahogany color as well. On the nose, you can really smell the nice fresh raspberry notes. The nose also ends with the base Dragon's Milk that we are all really used to, which includes that really nice roasted malt smell. On the taste you can right away get the wave of raspberries in the beginning. It is not bad though. The raspberries feel really nice and refreshing. In the middle of the taste you get the nice roasted malts and coffee. The beer finishes with the bourbon in the back, with the slight sourness from the hibiscus. The mouth feel is slightly more thicker than the other more thinner Dragon's Milk. However, this is still very thin in comparison many other stouts out there. Overall, I really really enjoyed this new reserve. I would recommend this to anyone who would like a nice dessert stout or to someone who does not normally drink stouts. I always love to get people who wouldn't normally drink stouts to say they enjoy something. I hope everyone enjoys this innovative stout as much as I do. Well done New Holland !!

Pours a dark mahogany with a slight reddish tint around the edges and with a medium size tan head that quickly dissipates with very little lacing. On the nose get raspberry and some boozy scents with some light florals. Taste is mainly raspberry with a very subtle bourbon back drop, some toasted malts. Initially finishes dry but then a sweetness creeps in on the after taste. Mouthfeel is medium carbonation with a bit of cloying, kind of coats the mouth slightly. Overall not bad, a bit light on the flavor profile for an 11% barrel aged stout.
