A: Fairly deep brown color with only a thin layer of light tan head which has zero retention. Some very light lacing on the glass as The beer goes down in the glass. Looks kind of watery, thin and flat to be honest.

S: Sweet caramel malts, with also some hints of a roasty aroma, molasses and kind of an oaky smell.

T: Sweet and roasty malts up front, followed by the spicy notes from the rye which give way to... pretty much nothing. All the flavor is up front, then the beer falls totally flat for me. I feel like the beer keeps me waiting for something to finish out the flavor, to balance it or round it out, but there's nothing there.

M: Medium bodied, a medium amount of carbonation. Slightly creamy, and it actually feels better than it looks upon first glance.

D: I don't find anything objectionable about this beer, but nor do I find anything special about it. It doesn't sate my thirst for beer, it just leaves me wanting a good brown ale. Or stout. Or porter. Or really anything to round out the flavor.

poured from a 12oz can into a half pint glass. pours chestnut brown with two fingers of off-white foam. heavy plum and raisin and cherry on the nose and taste with this one. little bit of stale cardboard too. medium-full mouthfeel. almost syrupy. not bad.

L; medium brown body with some opacity to it; a light brown head holds around a finger and leaves moderate lacing
S: Cocoa, breads, some raisin, and a bit of coffee-like roast; mild but not weak
T: Follows suit well, maybe a little fade into the finish; a standard for the style as something of an archetype among American versions without being exceptional
F: Medium body on the richer side with a decent heft and smooth finish, as moderate carbonation allows it to flow without biting

5/20/23 pour from a 12 oz can purchase from Washington Beer Store.... Dollar bargain bin. Almost 8 months old...

Stone, malt, brown bread.

Taste follows the aroma. Leah's first impression is "that's not too bad!" Raisin notes come across. Nutty. Roasty.

Not sure why the lower rating in this one.

Winter 2022 Seasonal Release - 6 pack
12 oz. can dated 10/04/22 - 6.5% ABV / ? IBU
Brewed and canned in Holland, MI
Poured into a Bell's branded tulip snifter glass

Look - Pours a dense and fizzy mocha cream colored head. Slightly see-through, dark brown appearance.
Smell - The scent is mostly roasted malt and chocolate. Maybe some dark fruit.
Taste - The taste follows the nose, but it's very muted. There's a good amount of bitterness in the aftertaste.
Feel - Light to medium bodied with a crisp mouthfeel and finishes somewhat dry.
Overall - The bitterness kinda overpowers any of the other flavors, but it's a decent brown ale, nonetheless.

Pours a dark brown, khaki head that almost passes for nitro and leaves some fine lacing. Aromas of coffee, warm bread and a bit of chocolate, taste buds get all that and some nuttiness. Never a fan of Brown Ales and this won't change it.

New Holland Cabin Fever pours a dark drown with reddish highlights, looking like a thick cola. A tan two finger head rides atop, completing an attractive look. The smell is pleasant.. wood and earth and a roasty campfire come to mind, with hops, malt, and coffee notes. There is a moderate bitterness to the taste, countered with a sweet note on the aftertaste. It has a substantial mouthfeel after the head recedes, which lingers enough to provide lacing all the way down to empty. This is a good brown ale, perfect for a winter warming beside a warm fire. The 7.5 ABV provides ample and satisfying warmth too. I shall purchase again!
