On tap at the brewpub. Deep yellow with a white head and some lacing. Yeasty and spicey taste, I was getting both bubblegum and some sourness. Yeasty aroma. Average mouthfeel. Drying. Fine for style, although I was not a big fan of it and ideas did not come together.

Had a pint at the pub on a recent visit. Was so damn good that I had to get a growler to take home.

Poured deep golden/light amber in color with a nice wisp of white foam head, that left quickly to a thin layer of top lace.

Aroma was of hops and farmhouse funky/fruity.

Taste was like the smell. Lots of hops with a nice saison funk/fruit aftertaste.

Mouthfeel was fantastic, not heavy, not too thin. A good, dry version of the style.

Drinkability was great. I turned that growler into a session and finished it off in one night. Great beer. I love the way they do a vertical of the beer with 7 or 8 variations on the theme.

Great beer. Time for a refill.

Poured from the tap an amber gold color with a thin, wispy white head.

Hoppy aroma along with Belgian yeast, earth and a light fruitiness.

The taste was was hoppy with light fruitiness, yeast, earth and a bit of spice.

Medium bodied and dry with a lighter carbonation.

This was really interesting. The characteristics of an IPA and a Farmhouse ale together in a glass. I'm glad I was able to try this one.

New Holland makes so many versions of their mad hatter.... however, the beer menu at Union Jacks confirmed that this was the beer I was drinking for their recent saison event. I have no idea if it was a new batch or simply a left over keg from their previous batch. In any event....

The beer pours a golden amber color with good head retention and lacing. The nose is quite floral and spicey, with rosemary, dry citrus, sandlewood and rose petals. The flavor profile replicates the nose pretty closely, though I don't get quite the same intensity of different flavors. The beer is surprisingly dry (a good thing in my book), and was dominated by dry citrus and spice. The beer has good bitterness, and I'm impressed by the amount of flavor I get, in what seems like a fairly low alcohol beer (menu actually says 5.8%). Mouthfeel was medium bodied at most, with a fairly long, dry, bitter finish.

A very nice beer with a lot of interesting flavor, especially for the abv.

Had this during NHBC's Hatter Fest in which they offered 9 different versions of their Mad Hatter IPA. This was a saison version known as Farmhouse Hatter.

Deep golden color. Not a lot of apparent carbonation. Somewhat hoppy aroma with a nice, light "belgian" aroma-moderately spicy. Smooth and malty with the definate hop bite of an ipa. Yeasty and earthy as well. Somewhat spicy flavor wise. A nice sweetness in the finish that balances a hop bite that is obviously out of style. The whole thing works well together. Decent body. Very drinkable and enjoyable beer. Nice example of 2 styles run together.
