Not much spectacular flavor or aroma going on from the bourbon barrel aging. There's definitely a hint of barrel-flavor, and the price is right for the bomber, but I just wasn't impressed.

Bottle > Tulip glass
A - Rich black brown with a very thin layer of fizzy tan head, no lacing. Looks kind of lame.
S - There is a lot of rich bourbon and oak notes in here with some sweet caramel malt. Lots of vanilla in here, some slight hint of cinnamon, and dark chocolate.
T - Very rich and sweet, sugary caramel malt, loads of vanilla, toffee, bourbon, boozy sweetness, some oaky aftertaste.
M - Velvety smooth, but a bit too cloying at times.
O - Im surprised I havent had this before, I know its been around a while. Its good, but a bit too sweet.

Nice, thick pour. Definately a DARK stout. Creamy, tan, 1 finger head that lasted maybe a minute. The first aroma I got was licorice. Wierd, I know, but true.
Then bourbon and some chocolate. Had to give a 3 on the feel, though. I got a little more sour than I would've liked, but the lack of bitterness made up for that . A stout this dark with little bitterness and a light carbination. %10 ABV for sure! I realy enjoyed this stout and will definately be drinking it again, and again, and again, and

Pours dark with light brown foam. Aromas of bourbon, chocolate and vanilla. Tastes of bourbon, oak, caramel and vanilla. Creamy feel with moderate carbonation on the tongue. I wish there was a little less carbonation and more viscosity. Overall fantastic BA stout that I can find in stores daily. Really underrated considering its availability in my opinion.

Look-Pours a very dark color.(basically black) The head is very small and sticks to the sides for the most part, a nice burnt/tanish color. Very nice appearance.

Smell-I immediately get the smell of bourbon(that boozy zingy aroma you get from bourbon), and I can also smell a slight sweet scent of vanilla and chocolate. I can definitely smell that bourbon though.

Taste-Very robust. Just like bourbon this beer is meant to be sipped on. I can taste notes of vanilla and chocolate. The flavor of bourbon is pretty present as well. The three flavors I get really do complement each other. The flavor is very complex and again robust.

Feel-Its thick, but not too thick. I go back and forth on the carbonation, some sips are carbonated and others aren't.

Overall-I got this beer from a good friend of mine who is quite the beer connoisseur, and so if he thinks it's good it most likely is good. With that being said, I am no stout expert. But what I do know is this beer is very special. It has the most complex flavor of any imperial stout I have tried. I have to say, I'm surprised it doesn't have a higher score. It was a delicious beer and a real treat to have.
One thing though, don't drink more than two of these beers... This beer will surely put you on your ass.

12oz bottle poured into a snifter, 2015 vintage

A- pours an opaque blak color with a small foamy khaki colored head that reduces to a ring around the edge, leaving a few traces of lacing behind

S- Toasted oak and barrel juice aromas up front with a hint of vanilla. Underlying roasty malt gives aromas of chocolate & earth, a hint of licorice. All of the elements are there, but a bit muted compared to most of the style

T- plenty of bourbon juice up front complimented by some vanilla & oak, and a hint of caramel. The base beer is chocolaty, but gets a bit overpowered by the barrel

M- medium-thick body with low carbonation leads to a creamy, almost chewy mouthfeel & a silky smooth finish, just a hint of warmth on the linger

O- a straight-forward BA Stout, it's certainly not as complex as most, but does the job, especially for the price. It's also one of the more bourbon-dominate stouts out there as well, which will appeal to some

More like a slightly bourbon barrel aged milk stout with flavor, smell, and feel. It's not bad at all, as I like a boozy bbs. Good bargain for the style.
