Very nice stout. Smooth and silky, not too thick. Look is a dark brown, somewhat amber color with a thin amber head. Smell is of dark fruit, alcohol, chocolate and vanilla. The taste is malty, molasses, cherry, vanilla undertones, bourbon on the forefront, light chocolate aftertaste, with a fair alcohol burn. Despite the mostly unmasked alcohol, this beer is very drinkable, even for someone new to big beers, the feel is just excellent. I really enjoyed this one but I wish I could get it for less than $18 for a 4-pack.

Appearance: very dark brown, almost black; small tan head, quickly dissipates; good lacing; expected for such a big beer

Smell: smells delicious; vanilla, oak dominate; smells bourbon-y, but could be due to the name

Taste: very sweet, malty, chocolate taste on start; good warming alcohol with roasted grains; oak tannins linger in the end; delicious

Mouthfeel: creamy, like silky milk chocolate

Remarks: may be my favorite US beer so far; excellent; I'll have to get this again.

The alcohol taste overwhelms everything. I did not enjoy this at all, but I'm not a bourbon drinker. Maybe someone who enjoys harder liquor would like this.

If you're not already, this beer could make you a stout fan. Just the right amount of bourbon flavor. Not overpowering. The vanilla is nice as well. Great beer, but it is expensive ($5 bottle), if you're going to keep stock. I would say it was worth the price though.

L: Pours bright coffee black under a clingy, frothy tan foam collar. S: Winey malt aromas with traces of chocolate. T: Malty caramel chocolate flavors are enhanced by oaky vanilla and big alcohol flavors. Dark chocolate bitter finish. F: Creamy, chewy, medium carbonation. O: A potent, big alcohol beer loaded with flavor that is a treat to drink.

A: pours a watery, though hazy, deep cola brown with a minimal ring of beige foam
S: definite bourbon, chocolate, some faint funk (reminiscent of a litter box), definite alcohol
T: bourbon uber alles, there is chocolate here, a definite Belgian strong dark ale malt quality, with that some dark fruit
M: watery and oily like a BSDA no thanks
O: sorry, this is not good, at all, it is way unbalanced, with the bourbon eviscerating everything in its path, and a very poorly masked ABV, as I noted before, has a lot of Belgian strong dark ale characteristics here, and I love that style, but not at the expense of another. oh wow no, not good
