look: 3.5 | smell: 3.5 | taste: 4.25 | feel: 4 | overall: 4

Pours a deep black with reddish brown edges. Tiny head which disappears immediately.

Smell is a little one dimensional. Thin roasted notes backdrop the smell of bottom shelf whiskey. Good thing I like cheap whiskey.

Taste really brings this one home. Chocolate and toffee notes punctuate a warming bourbon blanket. Very nice. Makes a man get a little poetic.

Mouthfeel is thinner than I'd like in a BB imperial stout, but i could be holding it to too high of a standard.

The taste is what makes this a great beer; it makes me overlook some of its shortcomings

Barreled in 2014. 3.78

A - dark, heavy

S - espresso, chocolate, mild

T - subdued, mocha, vanilla, mild bourbon

M - thick, pretty smooth

O - Could use more time in the bottle but a good option if they only have guiness and the like on tap. Will try a 2013 version later this year and see how it ages.

Update:the 2013 version is definitely better. Smoother, more bourbon, sweetness, and general cohesion. The 14 version is 11% vs 10% so it makes me wonder whether they changed the formula a bit. Get the 13 if you can!
