Very nice oatmeal stout I will reach for again.

Lighter bodied but creamy texture....

Nice roasty aroma with hints of java...

Flavor has a light coffee and cream dimension....subtle milk chocolate...touch of caramel.

I really like how this comes together....a bit more heft in the body would be ok but nothing wrong with how it is.

If poured it is a dark black, but tastes just fine out of the bottle. Has a chocolatey, malty oatmeal cream flavor that warms your soul on a winter day.

This is a nice and drinkable oatmeal stout that is another solid brew from New Holland.
The appearance is a normal pitch black stout with good head retention.
The aroma is coffee, chocolate sweetness, roasted malt, and some earthy hop bitterness.
The taste follows with sweet chocolate, coffee, roast malt, and some earthy hop notes. The roast lingers with the sweetness well.
The palate is medium with a nice roast lingering. Nice dry finish as well.
Overall this is a good and simple oatmeal stout that doesn't do anything too crazy.

Despite my almost monthly trips to Michigan, I had never made it to New Holland until recently. I'm not sure why I never made it, but I never had. Since I saw that they had an Oatmeal Stout on tap, I had to try it.

This beer arrived at the table with a creamy, khaki color head that dissipated slowly to a 1/4 finger high creamy layer that was retained for quite some time. The beer itself is opaque and pitch black with no visible carbonation. 4.25/5 The aroma is very dark and features a deep roasted profile. Notes of espresso and dark chocolate stick out as well as dark, toasted wheat bread, vanilla, caramel, and dark roasted malt. Possibly a bit of char and tobacco come out as well. The aroma is really fairly light but these notes are noticeable. 3.75/5 The flavor is very similar to the aroma with brown sugar and dark roasted grains coming out right away. After the sweetness dies down, out come a light coffee note as well as milk chocolate, along with a grassy bitterness on the back end that lingers lightly on the palate after swallowing. As the beer warms a bit of vanilla is allowed to make itself known in the middle of the sip. 3.75/5 A moderate carbonation burn greets the tongue but then disappears quickly. There is no dryness to the mouthfeel, it rather wets and coats quite nicely. This beer is filled bodied but disappears from he palate upon swallowing. 4/5 In terms of flavor this beer is light compared to many other oatmeal stouts that I have had. The true complexity comes out in the mouthfeel with contrasting characteristics of moderate carbonation and creaminess. The latter leads to a heavier feel while the former lends a lighter body. Very enjoyable to drink and it pairs well with food. 4/5

Thanks to Superspak for this brew from NBS BIF #4, MWK box. 12oz bottle poured into 10oz goblet. Poured a solid black, with just the thinnest cap of tan head that dissipated quickly, and left no lace.

The aroma was pretty much as expected, some roast, some earthy grains, a bit of sweetness. Fairly similar on the tongue, just a bit better developed.

Body was a bit thinner than I prefer in this style, but was smooth and even. Drinkability was good, the drank quickly and easily. Overall, a solidly pleasant brew. Worth trying if yu see it, but unlikely to blow you away.

A. Dark black, poor head retention, thin lacing, maybe due oily elements in it??
S. Chocolate and coffee traces well deifned.
T. Good Stout example, with a chocloate dominating flavor and coffee.
M. Creamy beer. Really good feeling in mouth.
O. Excellent beer, this beer beer take me to reconsider and look for Stout styles.

Poured from a bottle into pint glass in October2016.

Appearance: Dark black with a thin tan/brown head. Head is thin, and does not leave much lacing on the glass.

Smell: Strong aroma of roasted malts and coffee. There is a little bitterness from hops and a hint of sweetness like chocolate as well, but overall the roasted coffee dominate the others.

Taste: There is a nice balance between the malts and coffee flavors. There is some smoky roasted flavors, a little chocolate flavor, and hop flavors to enhance the taste and add some complexity. There is a moderate alcohol presence as with other Stout.

Mouth-feel: Moderate, but with a very smooth and creamy body. Not as thick as some other stouts.

This is a typically dark and smokey Stout, but it has a variety of flavors that adds some complexity to the beer. Although this is a tasty beer, it is very smooth and really enjoyable to drink.

Pours near black with a small creamy head that only left specks of lace. Nose is milky, with some earthy chocolate notes. Taste is a bit bolder, with lots of dark chocolate, but fairly simple and straightforward. Creamy medium-light mouthfeel. Overall, a good beer but doesn't stand out.
