New Holland is the place that I had my first craft beer (and second beer ever), as well as a college hangout of mine, so it holds a special place in my heart. The atmosphere, like in most places, can vary a lot based on the time you go. Most of the late night crowd is a college crowd, so if you go in the summer it will be pretty relaxed at night. During the school years Wednesday nights can be packed, but the college kids start coming out at 10 usually, so it doesn't get too bad until then. Lunch and dinner are usually pretty full but I've never had to wait longer than a half hour, and usually it's closer to 10 minutes. Weekends can sometimes have loud bands. Overall, a very clean, comfortable, and nice place. I have a hard time deciding on an atmosphere rating because different people are looking for different things, but I think most people can find the atmosphere they want at New Holland if they know what time to come.

The food at New Holland is great. I have not been disappointed by much on their menu, and they recently came out with a new menu that got rid of everything that had disappointed me in the past. The beer is also very good.

From a restaurant standpoint, the service is very good. However, I have been there many times and have not found many servers that can talk intelligently about the beer they have. If you know their seasonals, mainstays, and high gravity beers ahead of time it should be much easier. I also usually swing past the chalkboard before the waiter/waitress comes so I can find out what pub only beers they have and what styles they are because the servers often have a hard time remembering them. You can also ask for some samples, and although the menu says you'll be charged for samples, I don't think I've ever been charged if I ordered a beer, even if it wasn't the one I sampled.

This place is probably the best brewpub I've ever been to for pub only specials. They have a brewer that brews on his own at the pub (separate from their main brewing facility) and he makes a lot of fun things. Highlights from the past year include a gruit, a great wee heavy, and a pilsner that went so fast I never got any.

Again, the food is great. The pizzas are at least as good as they sound on the menu and a great value. The burgers are great too. I usually get one or the other, but the sandwiches I've had have been great as well.

My value rating is a combination because I think they're kind of all over the place as far as value goes, so here's a summary of my opinion of value:

Pizza: $
Anything else on the menu: $$
Mainstays and seasonals: $$
High Gravity beers: $$$

They've also got some great specials. On Wednesday nights mainstays and seasonals are only $5 for a fill of a stein (bring your own) so I would bring my 2 liter stein and get beer for $1.25/pint. Tuesdays have $6 growler fills, which is also tough to beat.

Also, if you're a fan of liquor, they make that too and you should check it out. I went on a free distillery tour that included sampling and it blew me away (but I'm a guy who's never gotten anything better than Maker's Mark). Hopquila is a great thing they've got going too.

Pretty good atmosphere, but usually very busy. Great beer selection and food menu. LPT: Order a "Dead Poet", which is half Dragon's Milk and half Poet.

Go every year to beer fest. Great atmosphere for family and kids. Their anniversary was this year and put on an awesome event. Food and service is good. Lot of things to do in town and around brewery.

Nestled in a real cool part of downtown with many quaint shops. Nice, big bar/eatery area and large retail area. Very friendly sales people, and one of the brewers was there to take people on tours so I bent his ear for a while. We did all the variants of Dragons milk, including the Triple Mash. Holy Cow that was good! They had tons of varieties including many one-offs.

I love the ambience of New Holland Brewery's restaurant! Their specialty pizzas like their Pesto Pizza is as good as any pizza joint. Good balance between pizza, sandwiches, and main entrées. On tap beers are much, much better than their bottled beers.

I came for dinner by myself one evening since I was in town and traveling for work. There are plenty of options both in terms of food and beer, although many of the beer styles seemed to run in the same vein when I was there which felt limiting to a degree. My entree was meh, but the side I ordered was really pretty good. I ended up only ordering one beer since I had drained my glass, gotten the attention of the waitress, who then promptly went to another table and never returned to except to bring the check 10 minutes later without ever asking if I would like another. Being that the bar was half empty I would have figured that she would have wanted to add to her tip, but apparently not. At said point in time I no longer wanted another drink, I just wanted to pay and be done. The one beer I had was of good quality. There is plenty of seating in the bar area but tvs only show the menu and goings on at the brewery.

Tour was very well done. Very informative. Tour guide was very knowledgeable. Food was good, but not go out of your way for it. Tap selection was slightly disappointing. Was hoping for a couple one off or unique beers. Only had the normal retail beers on tap here. They do have unique beers, but just none on hand when we were there. Recommend to call ahead if you are looking to try something unique.

Decent selection of beers on tap as well as their beer selection. Food was excellent. Atmosphere was pretty typical for a brew pub. Service was personable and polite.

Will definitely eat there again.

This was my introduction into the world of craft beer. I'm a Hope College graduate and when I was living in Cook Hall these guys were literally on the other side of the road. I enjoyed plenty a stein night here and had my first sour ale as well.
