This is a smoked saison from Other Half. I actually didn't taste a lot going on here--but the mouthfeel was very striking. Kind of inky/oily, but in a good way. Unusual for a beer but highly enjoyable and somehow quite drinkable. More like a gentle spirit than your typical carbonated beer. Flavor, again, is fairly subdued farmhouse flavors--a little yeasty, some fruit. Smokiness is not that discernable; I guess it came through more in the unusual mouthfeel for me.

The beer comes in a bright hazy orange color.

The aroma is fruity, citrus, and Belgian yeast with spice.

The flavor follows with bitter grapefruit, with lots of pepper and herbal qualities. Then a medium bready sweetness. Not really much smoke qualities.

A very good saison.
