Can: Poured a cloudy/hazy color ale with a large white foamy head with good retention and some lacing. Aroma of huge floral undertones notes with some citrusy with some faint residual sugar notes also perceptible. Taste is also dominated by dank hops notes with citrusy notes with some faint residual sugar notes also perceptible. Body is full with creamy and good carbonation. Pretty excellent for the style though hops don’t come out as much as I was expecting.

On tap at Emmy Squared in Brooklyn, it looked like an Other Half IPA or DIPA and you'd never know from the outstanding lacing that this was a session IPA. The nose was full of citrus fruit and hoppy notes and the flavor was zesty with grapefruit, lemon zest, tangerine, orange peel and some biscuit and faint caramel in the background. Nice light feel and basically no
bitterness helps this feel light, crisp and flow down easy. Another hit from theses masters of hops.

On tap at Grey Dog in the Village.

Appearance was hazy orange-yellow, and the nose was big and fruity: pineapple, mango, orange. The taste kept up the fruit notes with bitterness at the end, lots of carbonation and a fairly thin mouth feel. At only 4.7% ABV, a very refreshing session IPA. Another home run by Other Half Brewing.

New England at it’s flutteriest. It’s super sessionable, juicy as all get out - other people are getting some dank, savory Mosaic; I didn’t read that (though my palate was pretty dinged at this point in the proceedings.) At the same time, can’t help but feel this is dumbed down a bit, compared to what else OH can do.

Enjoyed poured from the tap at Lyon Bière Festival #3. This hazy session IPA let us drink itself quite easily with a low density. Strong on the pineapple, this is a fine brew

Canned 14 days ago.

L — Moderately hazy golden straw body. Finger of dense bright white head produced with aerated pour. Good retention and lacing
S — Overripe mango & papaya, cream, orange flesh
T — Mango, diacetyl, orange pith, crackery malts, lemon zest, papaya, guava
F — Remarkably flavorful given the ABV. Light mouthfeel, medium+ carb.
O — Other than the prevalent diacetyl quality, this is great. Probably the best session IPA I’ve had yet. Great shower beer

Poured a hazy light orange color with a well retained half inch white head that left blotches of lacing. Smells of citrus fruits, tropical fruits and pine. Tastes of orange, orange pith, pineapple, peach, pine and some bready malts. Light bodied, light to medium carbonation, crisp and refreshing.

At ABC Kitchen.
A) Pours a cloudy honey body with spongey, white head that leaves sudsy lace.
S) Crusty bread, grassy and earthy, with an herbaceous tone
T) On crusty bread is lathered orange / grapefruit marmalade, with grassy and earthy hops. Then finished with bitterness that's mix of white pepper and grassy hillside.
F) Medium body with moderate carbonation but a bit busy.

After a nice long holiday in Europe, I'm back in the good ole U.S of A, ready for that good ole American IPA I pines for while abroad. I had Other Half Forever Ever IPA on draft at Osteria Cota, NYC.
It poured a hazy, foggy and cloudy orange color. The moderate head looked like a still life landscape of a serene lake, its frothy foam retaining beautifully throughout.
As for the aroma, it was a model of citrusy delight; freshly squeezed orange juice and grapefruit pith with a complimentary helping of resist dank aroma. Later on, a hint of tropical fruit announces itself.
Forever Ever is a straightforward session IPA with a light body and easy to drink. The citrus flavors rule-zesty, grapefruit, orange and lemon-along with soft pine resin. The finish hints at grapefruit pith. The palate is dry overall with a tingly carbonation. The pale malt body is pretty thin and overshadowed by the hops at first. However, it reveals a silky and crackery flavor towards the end.
Flavorful and tasty. A solid session IPA by a great brewery.

On tap at O'Slattery's Restaurant and Pub in Delmar, NY.

This one pours a rusted orange amber, with a small head, and lots of lacing.

Smells like pine, grapefruit, orange, peach, and some sort of vague herbal thing.

This is surprising, in that it's a session IPA and that it's good. It's surprisingly full flavored for the ABV, with a steady bitterness, and lots of creamy and fruity hop flavor. It's all balanced exceptionally well.

This has a surprisingly full and creamy body here, with a good lingering bitterness. God, I loathe the word- but this is so crushable.

Other Half are clearly hop wizards- I don't like session IPAs, and I like this.

On-tap at Bevacco, Brooklyn, NY

A: The beer is slightly hazy amber yellow in color and has a slight amount of visible carbonation. It poured with a half finger high off white head that died down, leaving a thin layer of bubbles on the surface and some lacing down the sides of the glass.
S: Light aromas of orange citrus are present in the nose.
T: The taste follows the smell, having flavors of orange citrus along with hints of tropical fruits.
M: It feels just about medium-bodied and a little crisp on the palate with a moderate amount of carbonation.
O: This beer is quite flavorful but is also very easy to drink.

This beer smells and tastes more hoppy than most typical session ales. This definitely has more test , flavor and balance than a typical IPA. Overall a very solid beer that i would buy again.

Pours very cloudy. The white head is minimal. Smell is hoppier than I imagined it would be. Taste is rich with hops, but not overbearing. The after taste is minimal I assume due to being well balanced.

16oz can purchased at the brewery. Pours a hazy burnt straw color with an inch of frothy white head. Kind of looks like dirty pond water. Good amount of lacing. The aroma is melon, tangerine, pine, and some light herbal hop notes. The taste is more piney and herbal than the aroma but with melon and tangerine towards the end. Floral finish and pretty dry. Light body with a moderate amount of carbonation. Overall, solid Session IPA is buy again.

a top quality session ipa and another brilliant hop forward from other half, who seems to have found their niche with these. this is about as light as they get, almost no bitterness and with most of the hops character coming from a heavy handed dry hop on a very simple, light, and clean malt base thats just short of watery. nearly clear pale yellow brew with a good inch of head on it, looks incredibly light but also highly carbonated. the aroma and flavor of the hops are about identical, maybe a little more pungent in the nose. lime zest an citric brightness, im thinking citra and/or amarillo make up a significant portion of the hop bill, but other new world high fruity varietals could also be at work here. it drinks almost like a hoppy soda, except that its bone dry of course. i think forever ever is a good name for this one, because thats how long i could, and would like to drink on it. nothing abrasive at all here, more mellow hops, but a good snapshot of great dry hopping technique as well. an absolute crusher for me.

CAN: Aluminum with classy label art. 16 fl oz. Standard pull-tab. Purchased at Other Half a few days ago.

"Session IPA." 4.70% ABV.

HEAD: ~5-6cm in height. Off-white colour. Decent consistency and complexion. Leaves no lacing as it recedes, which takes about 2 minutes.

BODY: Dull and hazy, lacking transparency or much translucence. Yellow-copper. Not much to look at, and obviously unfiltered though no yeast particulate/lees are visible within.

Appears well-carbonated. It's an okay at best appearance for a (session) IPA, but it's far from unique or special.

AROMA: A nice mix of vague ill-defined tropical fruit and subtle soft blueberry notes tempered by pale malt sweetness. Not citrusy, juicy, resinous, oniony, or oily. A bit floral. Bitterness is checked by the malts nicely, but it does seem to have a pungent hop profile for a 4.70% ABV brew.

Aromatic intensity is average. Suggests a beer with a soft mouthfeel and a nice but not dazzling hop profile.

TASTE & TEXTURE: Somewhat oily, coating, medium-bodied, smooth, wet, unrefreshing, and tangy. Not a particularly soft or clean texture; it's murky from the lack of filtration and its presence on the palate isn't as oily or juicy as would be ideal.

Hop profile is nice but not stellar. Subtle hints of blueberry, vague fruit, floral character. There's a decent at best depth of flavour in play and it isn't horribly complex, but it's fairly well balanced for what it is. It's not a brew that nails down the hop pungency/lower ABV tradeoff that session IPAs tend to go for; even mere according-to-the-brewery pale ales like Zombie Dust have more hop presence and oomph than this does. Has a predictable pale malt backbone but it feels diluted (perhaps even by wheat? Or not - I'm probably way off).

There isn't an ideal harmony of texture and taste here, and the mouthfeel fails to accentuate specific flavours or to elevate the beer as a whole. Subtlety/nuance and intricacy/complexity aren't really big factors in this brew. It's a pretty simple straightforward would-be pale ale marketed as a session IPA. Hard not to like; even harder to love.

OVERALL: Competent but not impressive fare from Other Half. It's drinkable, but Other Half's bigger higher ABV IPAs like Stacks on Stacks are even more drinkable in my view - or maybe their obvious superior quality just makes them so easy to inhale. This isn't worth its unreasonably high price and its brief duration of flavour does drag it down for me. I couldn't justify purchasing it again and I wouldn't recommend it to others, but I always like to see a brewery trying to pack flavour into more mellow-in-terms-of-ABV beers. I'm glad I tried it once, but it won't dazzle discerning drinkers.

High C (2.97) / AVERAGE

12.07.16 2nd impressions:

A mellow pale ale from Other Half with a nice-but-not-dazzling hop profile and a refreshing mouthfeel. Highly drinkable but otherwise unremarkable, Forever Ever is an above average pale ale (branded as a session IPA) that isn't worth its high price (not that price affects my rating). I fail to see how any discerning drinker could choose this over a session IPA from a brewery like Lagunitas or Deschutes - especially since this is far more expensive - but I'm glad I got a 4 pack to try this once.

Way more taste than the average "session". Beautiful pale orange/amber, slightly cloudy. Served a little too cold for me, but once it warmed up a little the bitterness and slightly floral overtones came out.

1/2 growler. fill

Pours clouded lighter orangy Amber, lasting and delicate off white cap leaving fine sheeting and scattered lacing.

Citric hop nose

Hoppy and super dry sessioner. Thankfully it does not taste like a "session" IPA, really getting sick of em...this one has more character, hop snap and interest for me.....nice creation and well worth a try.

Far more murky in that OJ kind of way than I had expected, plus it has a very nice white head that's leaving behind plenty of sticky lacing.

Floral nose with a slight little dandelion inspired bitterness on the edges. After all else is exhausted, a mild sweetness wafts in.

Upon first "swig", and ever so slight tart that ushers in that previously mentioned dandelion bitterness. Not a ton of malt backbone, but just enough to provide a slight balancing sweetness.

Lingering on the tongue is a stubborn bitterness in an otherwise thin leaning beer. As "session" IPAs go, this one is certainly one of the more well crafted ones.

huge thanks to Dinizioj31 for sending this as an extra in a trade!

appearance is hazy orange with a nice white head that sticks around.

very faint smell.... pineapple, light citrus and grassyness on the nose. taste is similar with a fresh tasting orange/citrus flavor that gives way to a very subtle and slightly sweet malt. little to no bitterness on the finish. thought the mouthfeel was pretty good for a session. overall really glad to have tried this one, top notch session ale!

16 oz can. Cloudy orange with thick white head, good retention and plenty soapy lace. Citrus peel juiciness in he aroma. Taste is nice and juicy for a session brew, sweet light malt balance, really no bitterness to speak of. Thin to medium soft mouthfeel. One of the better session IPAs I've had.
