Pours black with a nice dark brown head that fades quickly. Nice lacing. Aroma of vanilla, coffee and light bourbon. Taste dark chocolate, coffee grinds, molasses, brownie batter, espresso and a light bourbon burn finish. The best offering of the cane life line. Huge bourbon stout fan. Look forward to more from Other Half.

This one pours a pretty dark black, with a small head and no lacing.

Smells pretty sweet, probably from the cane juice, with caramelized sugar, chocolate, coffee, and lots of sweet creamy vanilla.

I was worried that this would be too sweet. It's definitely sweet, but not too much so. The vanilla character is great, rich, sweet, and velvety. There's a nice fruitiness, mild bourbon, coffee, and lots of fudgy chocolate.

This is medium bodied, pretty thick, but not overly so. There's really no sign of the alcohol here.

This is interesting, and definitely better in smaller doses. Had it at a bottle share, about 3 ounce, and that seems perfect.

We've Been Out There In Orbit (Rum Barrel Aged)
Cane Life (bourbon Barrel Aged Version)
Cane Life (conditioned On Cocoa, Cinnamon And Ancho Peppers Version)
Cane Life (conditioned On Coconut And Coffee Version)
Cane Life (conditioned On Tahitian Vanilla Version)

The Cane life set in general was a BIG let down. The cinnamon version was the only really good one and this one was a close second. The others were super meh. The vanilla helps this one a bit, but overall a subpar stout...you can really taste the wakefiled artifical flavoring though.

the vanilla is awesome in this, and its much improved over the original version, which to me just had way too much barrel on it for the cane juice to be unique or impactful. seems counterintuitive that taking adding more ingredients would actually accentuate one, but that seems to be the case here, as the unique sweetness of the cane juice is way more evident, and i just love it in such a big stout. it almost seems like they try to overwhelm its capacity to sweeten and balance with insanely roasty dark grain, its big on big, but it works. this has a lot more carbonation and head and general liveliness to it too, which i dont usually care much about in the style, but missed tremendously in the dead flat original version. the vanilla is strong and sweet on the nose, great with the bourbon, and actually has a lightening floral quality in the taste. the cane juice flavor is there all the way through, confectioners sugar, woody bitterness, tobacco, raisin, rum, and a syrupy boozy mouthfeel. the vanilla improves this a whole lot, and i did not feel bad about the bottle price after having enjoyed this one. the mexican spiced edition through remains my favorite. this is way too sweet to have more than a small glass of, but it sure is unique. awesome collaboration series between these two guys!
