Double Dry Hopped CabbageDouble Dry Hopped Cabbage
Notes: DDH Cabbage Imperial IPA is hopped with Simcoe, Mosaic, Vic Secret and Motueka. Then double dry hopped with all the same hops to make an explosively hoppy DIPA.

Poured into a teku, it has a cloudy bright yellow color with a 1 finger cloudy off white head that was packed with very tiny bubbles, dissipating very slowly and leaving outstanding foamy lacing coating the sides and thick rings as it went down. Looks like a yellow glass of fresh squeezed orange juice.

Smells of grapefruit, pineapple, papaya, orange juice, lemon zest, tangerine, fresh citrus hops, mild piney notes, fresh cut grass, herbs, flowers, lots of dry floral hops, a dash of onion, coriander, peppery spices, biscuit, weak caramel and tropical fruit. The herbal/earthy notes shows off the dry hopping and blend perfectly for a ton of hoppy complexities.

Tastes of all things citrus and tropical fruit: pineapple, tangerine, orange juice, melon, lemon zest, green apple, mango, grapefruit, papaya, lime, dank citrus hops, start fruit, mild piney notes, herbs, flowers, dry floral hops, cannabis, coriander, peppery spices, biscuit, caramel, toasted grains and a little graham cracker. It somehow has balance for a hop bomb, masking the ABV completely and going down easier than it should. Full of flavor, each sip morphs from citrus to herbal and back for a nice representation of a lot of different hops. Signature OH flavor.

Mouthfeel is slick, smooth and creamy with a medium level of bitterness, an average body that has some thickness which is on par for a NE style DIPA, and then a tart finish which is all citrus as it fades on the dry side. Another excellent DIPA by Other Half. This can was almost 2 weeks old and perfect at this stage.

Canned 7/24/18 (27 days ago)

L - 2-finger offwhite head atop a translucent orange body.

S - strong grapefruit, pineapple, herb.

T - lots of grapefruit and lots of dank. A touch of pineapple. Pine. Resin. Sour lemon. Earthy middle. Moderate bitterness. No sweetness. Low booziness.

F - medium body and carb.

O - not at all vegetal, which I thought given the name would be a focus. Glad it isn’t though.

Pour from a growler filled at Other Half.

This is my first OH beer and it was not a disappointment. Hazy but not completely opaque. I was honestly expecting a super low bitterness juicebomb, but this one had a bit of bitterness, which is not a bad thing at all. Saddled the line between west coast and NE styles nicely.

From can. Really hazy yellow color with off-white head. Aroma is really dank and herbal with chives and green hop matter. Taste is sweet and dank with onions, seaweed, dry and bitter on the finish. Medium plus body, medium carbonation, quite smooth.

Poured to a stemmed BrewDog glass.

A: This body is PERFECT. It has a dense, 100% opaque, matte yellow with a half a finger thick white head showing a very good lacing and retention. The color is just amazing. In love with this appearance.
S: The aroma is mostly citrusy with minor tropical notes. Lots of orange, grapefruit and small pineapple and mango notes. Would say Centennial or Cascade are present, maybe some small proportion of Citra.
T: Taste starts off with a big orange to tangerine profile, setting one of the smoothest beers IPA taste I've ever had - having goosebumps while I write this down, touching very gently on resinous profile and then moving ahead for bitterness that is not too strong nor too weak. This is a real achievement.
M: Body is medium. Carbonation perfect. Bitterness high and bold. Alcohol unnoticeable.
O: World class beer. Should be a classic real soon.
