Spicy Meatball Imperial IPA (8.6%) collab with Cellarmaker Brewing is a delightful mix of some of our favorite Southern Hemisphere hops: Galaxy, Vic Secret, Motueka and Wai-iti balanced out with some good old fashioned oats.

I was almost expecting a sandwich when I cracked this can open and to some extent, that's what this tasted like. A lot of that had to do with the oats, which were easily felt and gave this a nice body but the hops were so smooth that it almost felt like a soft, spicy meatball that went down easily. This was a *really* smooth beer as it was hard to keep in my pint glass for the duration of my session!

This beer had a milky, creamy blonde hue to it with a minimal head topping it off and very little lacing left behind aside from a moderate, thick ring near the top of my pint glass. Soft hops, lychee, starfruit, baked bread, and oats in the nose the taste burst forth with a wonderful array of fruit flavors, lush hops from the other hemisphere, and a bit of spice that fit the oat, bread, and meat aspects perfectly. This was really impressive as it warmed up as hints of orange cream and tangerine emerged near the bottom of the liquid with mango, peach, and soft floral notes also entering the fray.

Plenty of booze here but with so much going on it, I almost didn't even notice it. This wasn't a new can so the back had a bit of burn that probably wouldn't have been there had I consumed it fresh but no matter, I still enjoyed this anyways. Chewy oats and melon dankness lingered in the aftertaste as this was a wonderfully full beer that left me wanting more. Easily among Other Half's better offerings!

CAN
Pure milk; melon, lychee, + anise, with greasy herbal + grass; shortbread, then papaya, sneaky mint oil, apricot baby food, honeysuckle, grass + lemon chiffon; creamy but dry.

Galaxy, Vic Secret, Motueka, + Wai-iti

Paler than usual with a light, delicate nose. That follows in the taste - a noble spice (Motueka, most likely) undercurrent, though there’s Vic Secret menthol, too. “Not shouty” sez Simon, and I agree - subtle. Not the usual OH; I’m curious what Cellarmaker brought to the table.

The pour is a hazy gold, with minimal head in this 5oz taster glass, and not much residual lace.

The nose features sweet tropical fruit, ripe mango and pineapple, with a balancing malt presence. Very smooth.

The flavors continue with a balance of sweet and hoppy. Ripe tropicality make a return, but this time with a good earthy, subtly piney hop presence that cuts through this supremely smooth Imperial.

Body is a good medium thickness, with a present but not unsettling carb. Predominantly creamy and juicy.

Super cloudy pale yellow-orange with a finger-and-a-half of dense near-white head. Possibly the most smoothie-like NEIPA I've seen. The head leaves heavy lacing.

Huge peach, mango and cream in the nose with a strong herbal undertone and hint of white pepper.

Not as fruity tasting as the nose suggests. There's more orange juice citrus, a continuation of the herbal element, a sloppy wet kiss of alcohol and some fairly strong bitterness that lasts into the aftertaste.

Mildly creamy feel with a nice seltzer-like fizz cutting through.

This is not entirely unlike a screwdriver with bitters and herbs. Very enjoyable.

This is a big hazy DIPA collaboration from two breweries known for their IPA game.

Beer is hazy straw, grapefruit juice in appearance. Thin foamy head that settles into thin collar and leaves sticky foam lacing.

Aroma is ripe tropical fruits, peach and grapefruit. Zesty, and additional earthy hops.

Flavor is sweet tropical hop juice with a big backing of earthy resins and pine. Fresh peach flesh, sweet grapefruit juice and zest.

Moderate carbonation with a little bit over medium body.

Tasty brew, smooth, sweet, enough bitterness to balance things out somewhat.
