11/6/18 canning of this 10.5% abv imperial oat cream IPA, which, in Other Half lingo, means it is brewed with oats and lactose... This beer features Citra and Citra cryo hops - presumably triple dry-hopped... Looks like a glass of orange juice with some foam on top... Packs a huge citrus character - very sharp and tangy - impressions of orange abound, with additional edge provided courtesy of lime and grapefruit notes... The body and profile is rounded off with deeper tropical elements such as mango and its green, unripe skin... Medium-full body is relatively smooth, but any softness is offset by the sharp edge of citric acid... Moderately sweet, mildly bitter... Not necessarily a favorite of mine, but I am hard-to-please when it comes to orange and sharp citrus - in a NEIPA, I'd rather something a little more "gentle" lol... Still, not something fans of the style or brewer should pass up...

A: massive mandarin orange, grapefruit, pineapple and mango. Loads of Fresh fruit.

A: Orange juice in appearance. Light to moderate carbonation leaving a light cream head that falls to smooth cap.

F: Citirus with more orange and grapefruit. Some tart fruits followed by mango and star fruit. Full of bready malts but well balanced with medium bitterness in the flavor.

M: creamy and full bodied but not overboard. Lingering medium bitterness with pineapple and melon fruits.

O: exceptional! Wonderful hazy IPA that exemplifies the style. aroma, flavor, and body all hit the spot and wouldn’t even know this was a 10% abv.

Can. White heads hazy dull gold. This is straight up pineapple orange juice. Tropical melon and mango. Very soft. Incredible drinkability. Does not taste anywhere near 10.5%. Wow.

Smells strong Citrus, Orange, grapefruit, candied orange, bready and light tropical.

Tastes juicy Orange, grapefruit, citrus peel, bready, herbal, pineapple, melon and light pepper. Finish is semi-dry with a citrus linger. Full body and creamy medium carbonation.

16 ounce can dated 9/12/18. Poured into Lexan tulip.
Pours a milky, hazy orange juice. Yellow tinted, sticky white head Immediately upon cracking open the can I was met with all the Citra. Oj, grapefruit, mango, overripe pineapple.
Oranges, lemon peel, then mango and papaya. Finishes sweet, like honey and biscuits. Big chewy mouthfeel for a triple IPA. Overall, not your typical malty double (or triple). Hop bitterness levels out some of the sweetness.

Pours a murky golden yellow with a thin white cap.
Smells of citrus, orange, grapefruit, pineapple. A bit sweet as well a bit of alchohol.
Taste is sweeter citrus, orange, pineapple, a bit of vanilla maybe.
Full bodied with good carb level. Alchohol shows itself but not overly so.
Overall a tasty one!

Poured into a 12oz snifter glass via draft at Other Half
Bright orange in color no lacing
Smell is a pungent citrus stink..heavy on the orange and grapefruits..mango too..wow!
Taste follows the nose..some slight bitterness but doesnt distract at all from the taste on this
Full body..great mouthfeel
Just when i think ive found a favorite other half beer they brew up something new and my mind changes..well they did it to me again because i really really REALLY enjoyed this beer and it is in the running for my favorite beer OH produces..just a wonderfully blended IPA with no detection of the high ABV that this beer carries makes it so dangerous as i could easily drink this all the time!!

Welcome to act four of New @CanConPhilly Beer Sunday (Week 709)! It is like a Shakespearean tragedy & things are now at a climax.

From the CAN: "Imperial India Pale Ale".

I am lukewarm about Other Half, having visited once & been told that their CANs are release day-only items. That is totally NOT in keeping with the basic tenets of The CANQuest (tm), but I try to keep an open mind. I opened this CAN with a nice Crack! & began a slow, gentle Glug to maintain clarity. Ooh, that turned out to be a massive waste of time! Fellas, when a "Place Admin" has been identified & you still CAN't be bothered to update the Style designation on this site, then I have little to no, or below no sympathy for yinz! This was nothing more than another hazebro NEIPA disguised as something more palatable. Color was a turbidly cloudy Yellow-Gold (SRM = 4 - 5). I have waded through swamp water that was clearer than this mess. Nose was tropical fruity (mango, papaya, guava & passionfruit) with vanilla. Hmm. No inherent bitterness, though, which is a hallmark of the DIPA style. Too bad that t wasn't designated as a NEIPA when I reviewed it … Mouthfeel was creamy at last, but it was too late in this play to save the utterly flawed protagonist. I beat upon the steering wheel of my now-stranded Jeep, crying "A horse, a horse! My kingdom for a horse!" as Malcolm, MacDuff & Siward make their way up high Dunsinane Hill, but to no avail. Rosenkrantz, Guildenstern & Ophilia are all mort & I must take up with Laertes as my bestie for life (short though it may be), Horatio, looks on. The taste was solely of tropical fruits and vanilla extract and as my throat beCAN to CANstrict, I could only gasp, "O, apothecary, thy drugs are quick!" World-Class?!? Not if you are reviewing to style & not to taste, or worse, to hype! This was to a DIPA what I am to Mr. Universe. The tragedy, the tragedy. The horror, the horror! Finish was an odd mélange of plays, characters, flavors, appearances & other such nuances. It was NOT, however, in keeping with the DIPA style. There was little bitterness, an emphasis on tropical fruit flavors, too much particulate & it led to a tragic outcome. 8=(

Super cloudy, somewhat murky yellow with two fingers of off-white head. Soapy lacing.

Citrus-forward aroma. OJ, clementines, a touch of herbs, a hint of white pepper.

Great creamy OJ taste with enough bitterness and herbs to prevent it from seeming sweet. A sloppy kiss of alcohol, too. Sort of like a screwdriver, but with cream in it and a little herbal something or other.

Legitimately thick, shake-like feel with a touch of carbonation barely cutting through.

Bigly flavors in this one, with tons of Citra as advertised. Good stuff, especially if you’re not afraid of a boozy beverage. The feel plays a lot into the quality here. 9/12/18 canned on date.
