Picked this and the other version up a few weeks back at Other Half, even though I didn't go to the Pastrytown beer festival. Their Stouts has been off the charts lately and although this didn't quite measure up to those, I enjoyed it a lot and found it easy to drink despite it's alcoholic potency.

As expected, this had a dark hue to the pour with plenty of appealing, mocha head topping the liquid off. That held it's own but the lacing was only a thick ring in the middle of my glass, as this was just a bit thinner than I expected. Loads of creamy peanut butter, pretzels, baker's chocolate and booze in the nose with a bit of cacao and cocoa powder tying everything in. Brandy sweetness, raspberry juice slickness, and an underlying milk creaminess made this easy to savor from the first sip until it fully warmed up. Lots to enjoy here as the peanut butter aroma lingered long after the last sip went down...

No beer with this much alcohol in it could be considered "soft" but this was about as close to that as a Stout could get. The booze was here but with so much peanut butter and sweetness going on, you'd be hard-pressed to pass out from this. A dessert beer if there ever was one, I enjoyed this but found the intensity of the flavors a slight turn-off as I had to pace myself throughout my session. Fans of Other Half or any brews of this style will enjoy this while knowing that it's quite intense for something post-dinner...

Very solid sweet beer with cacao, peanut butter, pretzles, as well as a solid dose of vanilla. Very high ABV, and extremely tasty. IMHO the better of the two Pastrytown series.
