16oz can. Bottom date stamp is off center and cannot be read but looks to be a date from 2023.
Cloudy, deep gold colored body. Three fingers of off white head slowly settles into a fluffy cap, with left behind lacing webs.
Aroma wafts from the glass. Smells of orange and tangerine concentrate, a little green apple, and pine.
Taste is initially citrus - orange and grapefruit, and then gets more earthy with a heavy pine presence. Other minor fruit flavors of apple and berry. Somewhat sweet from the fruits but also has rye spice and woody/resin flavors. Aftertaste is more of the rye and pine.
Medium mouth feel. Earthy but minimal bitterness. Excellent carbonation.
Expressive nose and flavors, but stays away from fruit bomb sweetness. Rye and caramel malts keep the brew grounded.

Golden color with a 4F head in a stone imperial pint glass.

Light aroma of fruit.

Very hoppy with a spicy finish which overshadows the fruit taste.

I’m generally not a big fan of pale ales. Good beer but not memorable.

Hazy pour with deep color--almost orange. Pop the top and stand back--Lux has a heady nose rich with citrus. The flavor profile leans toward sweet, noticing tropical fruits, apple and pine to beautifully balance the ale. Tasty as hell, and at 5.1%, eminently sessionable.

Pours a hazy orange with a thick and persistent head. Aroma leaps out of the can, with notes of citrus and pine and possibly a hint of apple and berries. The smell doesn't prepare you for the flavor, where the pine takes center stage, with the fruit providing balance. The slight apple notes are still there, but I couldn't detect any berries in the flavor, despite their lingering presence in the aroma. At mid-palate, there's some substantial bitterness, but that mostly is gone by the swallow.

This is very flavourful for a pale ale, and very interesting.

Look: orange/yellow/tangerine with a delicate head.

Smell: citrus, tropical fruits but something more sous bois too. Those trees are in the Pacific Northwest.

Taste: really complex and interesting. Tropical fruits, pine, apples, some hints of oak.

Feel: well balanced and enticing

Overall: really fabulous. Works with food but doesn't need it. Very satisfying but not so strong one pint ruins you for hours. A very interesting beer.

Smell: Candied orange with booze and maybe a hint of tangerine/peel.

Taste: Mellow and mostly one note except for the after taste. Plenty of hops though and the after taste is pleasant with notes of tangerine and lightly sweet orange.

16oz can purchased from the fridge as a single for $4.99. This beer was canned on 9/28/22, so it's just under six months old.

Look: Pours a pale orange color with a faint haze and a half-finger of whitish head. Steady stream of little bubbles rising up the glass. Lots of hop proteins at the bottom of the can.

Smell: Spicy aromas along with citrusy and tropical, fruity notes. It's a bit dank and piney, and there's some pineapple and berry notes too. There's kind of like a fruit cocktail kind of vibe in there. Interesting.

Taste: This is really good. Even though this is not at its freshest, it's easy to tell its potential and since this has been kept cold it seems to have fared well. It has a nice bitter backbone. Up front, The finish is very dry and bitter, with notes of woody pine and spicy rye. The rye malt has a nice body to it as well as pleasantly malty and spicy notes. I do get a bit of a soapy aftertaste at times; not sure if this beer may be oxidized due to age (6 months) or what.

Feel: Slightly chewy mouthfeel. Nice body for a 5.1% Pale Ale. I would say that it is medium bodied, maybe slightly under medium bodied. It is refreshing and easy to drink.

Overall: The only other Bissell beer that I have had is The Substance Ale and I really liked that. These are two very different beers, and this is also quite good. I am a big fan of American Pale Ales overall, and I like that this one is hop-forward and bitter-forward instead of malt-forward. Yet it does still have a nice hop/malt balance. I will definitely look forward to trying a fresher version of this and re-reviewing.

From the website:
Our pale ale hopped exclusively with Mosaic and brewed with rye. A tropical escape to a sunnier state of mind.

Malts: 2-Row, Crystal Malt, Maine Rye, Vienna
Hops: Mosaic

It's a foamy pour to empty a pint can into a clear glass liter mug. Initially, it takes up about forty percent of the completely filled vessel. The the recession begins, unevenly and unattractively, as with most that start out with this much foam. Beneath all that foaminess lies a liquid golden-amber in color, but dull and opaque. Its aroma is grassy and mildly hoppy, with references to citrus and pine. The taste is also grassy, not unexpected from a rye forward ale. Rye has a way of smoothing out a brew's body and it does so here. Rye also has a way of knocking down a hoppy bite, which it also does here. Yet, this isn't devoid of some pleasant tastes. The body brings a little malty depth and sweetness, the rye adds a little grassy earthiness and there's just enough piney hop aspect to dry out the finish and clean things up. Unlike many foam producing beers, this one brings lovely glass lacing, even stratification. Other than lacking a hop bite, this is a pleasant brew to consume, especially if rye in a beer is appreciated.
