5/26/19...pours dark brown bordering on black. Light ring of foam. Chocolate nose, and some coffee too. Strong chocolate open. Light mouthfeel and lower bitter. Smooth. But so so.

A: The beer is jet black in color. It poured with a quarter finger high beige head that quickly settled down, leaving just specks of bubbles on the surface and a narrow collar around the edge of the glass.
S: Light to moderate aromas of chocolate malts are present in the nose.
T: The taste has lots of flavors of coffee, dark roasted malts, and chocolate along with a light to moderate amount of bitterness. The roasted flavors linger into the finish.
M: It feels medium-bodied on the palate and has a low to moderate amount of carbonation. The oats lend a slight bit of smoothness to the mouthfeel.
O: This beer has a lot of flavors of coffee and roasted malts but doesn't seem to be nearly as heavy on the palate as one would expect as the oats lighten up its body.

Draught pint at The Brass Tap in Baltimore. A solid porter.

Good starting head which dissipates slowly. Spots for lace. Solid brown color where light passes easily through the center of the glass.
Chalky semisweet chocolate aroma.
More milky than the smell suggests. No burnt flavors like some porters, just plenty of cocoa with light sugar. Good body with moderate carbonation. The aftertaste is like the taste but with a touch of nutmeg and lavender.

Very dark brown with red highlights, thick tan head with great retention and lacing.
Aroma of dark, winy fruit and chocolate
More dark fruit and chocolate on the palate, along with a roasty bite
Medium bodied. Goes down pretty easy for its strength and flavor
My current favorite porter

Rerated on 10/17/17. Upgraded its numbers.
Poured into a nonic pint.
A classic take on a classic style. Reminds me of DFH Indian Brown. The best beer I had today.
A - A beautiful beer, black/dark brown with reddish overtones with a thick one-finger mousey brown head. Alcohol legs and some lacing. 4.25
S - Roasty but not burnt. An aroma entirely different from the taste, almost non-existent compared to the intensity of the taste. 3.75
T -A dry porter with some funk. Toasty/roasty malts, slightly burnt bitter finish, dark chocolate, tobacco, raisins, a little vinous, prunes(?), but very little to no sweetness. 4.25
MF - Medium heavy with a slightly dry finish. A great body, creamy, chewy, sort that sweet spot between high ABV and a watery porter. But not a session porter. Velvety, luscious. 4.75

Another win for Right Proper, this is a creamy, medium-thick porter that hits all the right notes a porter should - a bit of chocolate, some earthy, toasted malt flavors, and a smooth, malty, semi-sweet aftertaste. One reviewer said it was an oatmeal stout, and that makes sense - it has that rich, savory, meal-like flavor to it. Recommended!

Dark brown/black with a frothy head. Smells nuttier than the average porter, in addition to typical smells of roasted malts and coffee. The taste was different than I expected as well: it tastes incredibly oaty, in a good way. More oat flavor and creamy oat feel than even many oatmeal stouts as far as I can tell. There's also a good presence of bitter chocolate. Very tasty. The feel is creamy and chewy and pretty thick. A great beer for when you walk into Right Proper on a cold evening.
