Pours a dark color. Not to much head. Little lacing. Starts smooth like an oatty but goes dry fast . To me this is a very dry stout with a touch of coffee bean .

not a bad beer, although i have to admit i was hoping for more here. it seems almost impossible these days that a brewery can be commercially viable with beer like this. not that its bad, again, but that its so average and generic and has some flaws. there are so many good beers, especially in base styles like this one, that the people of colorado should be able to chose better than this one. that said, here i am drinking it, so maybe not. it doesnt have much head on it, and it doesnt have much viscosity, so i am skeptical right from the outset. there is a slightly tannic nose on it, like it was sparged a bit hot, and the roast is very mild, with the chocolate male coming through in the nose a lot more than the roasted barley. the taste is similar, its definitely thin and more of a brown ale than a stout in some ways, and whatever oatmeal is in this thing doesnt do much, because the body isnt there and neither is that well integrated smoothness they usually contribute. even the caramel flavor of an amber ale here, the stout aspect of the malt is super lacking, and thats a big flaw. the more i look at it in the light, the more it looks like a dark amber ale. pretty weak offering on the whole, and while it tastes fine, its a terrible rendition of an oatmeal stout.

Nice, solid looking stout- frothy, very light tan, nice and bubbly. Smell isn't too great. A sort of of weak, tinny light-stout aroma. Plasticky. Tasate is much better-- nice roasted grain tastes, lightly adjunct-like finish, minimal hops, more like nonexistant. Mildly sweet, lingering finish. Good oatmeal stout feel, fuller-bodied and smooth with subdued carbonation.
Not a bad stout, not too heavy, sessionable. Will definitely seek out again!
