From the bomber in a snifter via Savor Growl in Columbus. This mighty fine
doppelbock pours a deep and lightly cloudy brownish mahogany with a nice
head of off white foam that fades to a thick ring, thin wispy pooling layer, and
shows light lacing. Nose of dark fruits, raisins, plums, dark breaded malts,
and brown sugars. Flavors follow the nose with dark breaded malts awash in notes
of plum and figs with a generous helping of brown sugars and subtle hops on the
back with lightly warming booze on the finish. Very good mouth feel; medium body,
medium light carbonation, and a fruit and brown sugar touched finish.

A solid representation of the style from a great brewery.

Cheers

In my ROWYBO mug the beer poured a dark brown color (realizing I am looking directly down into the beer). There was a moderate sized, quickly disappearing, tan head.
Sweet malt aroma, some dark fruit.
Caramel and toffee taste. Could not appreciate the fruit I thought I detected in the aroma.
Medium-bodied, sweet.

500 ML bottle
Served in a pokal glass

This beer pours a deep, deep shade of copper with auburn highlights. It is topped with two inches of tan head that leaves no lacing whatsoever.

It has an earthy and malty aroma. I smell toast, caramel and molasses.

It tastes just like it smells. I get an earthy, malty flavor with notes of caramel and toast. It is not overly sweet.

Medium mouthfeel with low carbonation

I could very well see this beer sustaining me through Lent. It is hearty and very good without being too sweet like some doppelbocks tend to be.

Yes it's true . . . I entered this as a new beer under the name "Gustinator."

Sigh . . . My bad. Someone at BA corrected me and the world keeps spinning.

Anyway, this is a nice example of a DoppleBock. I was pleasantly surprised and enjoyed every drink.
