22 ounce bottle, Batch #1, 2016 brewing season. Served in a Teku glass, the beer pours a slightly hazy reddish/brown color with about an inch light tan head. Head retention and lacing are both good. Aroma is nice, the brew smells like tart cherries, caramel, bready malt, blackberries, brown sugar and earthiness. For the most part I think the taste is similar to the aroma, but there's also some vinegar, oak, red grapes/wine, citrus and vanilla. Nice mix of sweet and tart flavors, although it is more tart than sweet. Mouthfeel/body is medium, it's slick and smooth with a good amount of carbonation. Easy and enjoyable to drink, too. I liked this, definitely worth trying if you're into sours and/or Flanders Red style brews. $19.99 a bomber.

22 ounce bottle into tulip glass; 2016 vintage, bottled in 6/2017. Pours fairly crystal clear ruby red/copper color with a 2 finger dense off white head with great retention, that reduces to a thin cap that lingers. Nice spotty lacing clings on the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of big tart/sour red/black cherry, blackberry, raisin, plum, fig, date, lemon, lime, red/green apple, currant, red grape, red wine, hay, straw, grass, toasted oak, leathery/musty funk, honey, caramel, brown sugar, and bread; with lighter notes of oaken vanilla, pepper, balsamic vinegar, and yeast/oak/toasted earthiness. Damn nice aromas with great balance and complexity of fruity/funky/acidic yeast, dark/bready malt, and oak barrel notes; with great strength. Taste of huge tart/sour red/black cherry, blackberry, raisin, plum, fig, date, lemon, lime, red/green apple, currant, red grape, red wine, hay, straw, grass, toasted oak, leathery/musty funk, honey, caramel, brown sugar, and bread; with lighter notes of oaken vanilla, pepper, balsamic vinegar, and yeast/oak/toasted earthiness. Light-moderate lactic tartness and light yeast/oak spiciness on the finish. Lingering notes of tart/sour red/black cherry, blackberry, raisin, plum, fig, date, lemon, lime, red/green apple, currant, red grape, red wine, hay, straw, grass, toasted oak, leathery/musty funk, honey, caramel, brown sugar, bread, light vanilla/vinegar, and yeast/oak/toasted earthiness on the finish for a while. Incredible complexity, robustness, and balance of fruity/funky/acidic yeast, dark/bready malt, and oak barrel flavors; with an awesome malt/tartness balance; and zero puckering/astringent flavors after the finish. Lightly increasing dryness from tart/sourness and yeast/oak spiciness. Medium carbonation and body; with a very smooth, moderately creamy/grainy, fairly acidic, and lightly tangy/tannic balanced mouthfeel that is fantastic. Zero warming alcohol for 6%. Overall this is an amazing Flanders red ale! All around incredible complexity, robustness, and balance of fruity/funky/acidic yeast, dark/bready malt, and oak barrel flavors; very smooth and easy to drink, with the mellowly lactic/tangy/tannic/drying finish. Outstanding fruity/funky Brett and Lacto complexity, perfectly balanced dark/bready malts, and nice oak presence. A touch too heavy on the darker fruits, but the malt backbone was perfect. Never overly sour or lactic. A highly enjoyable offering, and amazing style example. One of the best ones I have had.

22 oz bottle poured into a nonic pint.

A: fairly aggressive pour yields almost no head but a slight off white film. The body is a brackish Brown almost red.

S: Lots of red wine, oak, a little vinegar, apple, and some honey. The Barrel aspect is crazy strong in the nose.

T: Lots of wine, oak, cherry, a little plum very tart and the oak and red wine are huge. almost get a thick charred wood taste on the finish.

M: fully bodied carbonation is low this thing clings to your tongue.

O: this beer is great. I love Flanders style beers and this one is dynamite. Lots of nice flavors and pleasingly sour. Would never have guessed it was aged in Rum and Bourbon barrels.
