One of the best coffee milk stouts I've had. Deep brown color, flavors and aromas of cream, coffee, chocolate, and roasted malts. Lots of sweetness, substantial mouthfeel. This is almost like drinking chocolate milk, and it goes down every bit as easily.

Dark body with a tan head, deep chocolate taste with a tan bite at the end. Heavy start with a light finish. Enough complexity in flavor without being too over bearing.

Had on tap. Yeah... this hits the spot. Classic appearance, smell, taste and feel, but all done well. Creamy black waves of espresso, milk chocolate, vanilla, and little hints of creme brulee in smell and taste. Smell is more coffee forward, taste more balanced. Stupid smooth, creamy, and easy drinking, but thins a touch when warmer

12 oz can, canned on 1/10/19. Malfunctioning lid didn't want to pop and instead came out the sides. Poured into boiler snifter.

Pours a dark shiny black color, with a beige-brown head of 2 fingers, receding to about 1/2 finger leaving delicate skirts of lacing behind.

Strong espresso notes on the nose, with supplemental chocolate notes and lactose, but never peppery or overly tannic. Faint caramel creme notes.

Flavor brings a wonderful balance of coffee and chocolate, at almost heavenly amounts, bringing touches of coconut and lactose. Lingering mild fruitiness and acidity with cocoa notes.

Feel is perfect for a coffee stout - just enough body, not too thick, great carbonation with a lively feeling, slick and smooth, and mild roasted dryness on the finish.

Overall, this is probably the best stout in Iowa besides the obvious TG offerings. Looked pretty limited, I hope I can find more.

On tap in Clinton, Iowa.

The pour is a bit thin-looking: dark ruby with a visibly light body.

The aroma is very sweet. Big chocolate balanced only minimally with a small amount of coffee. It's pleasant overall, but awfully ersatz.

Tastes smooth and, again, very sweet. The thin body isn't that much of a hindrance. Coffee and mocha up front, chocolate and charred barley in the middle, a lingering sour finish.

It's okay.

12oz can. Poured out an opaque, jet-black color with a small, light brown head of foam. It smelled of chocolate, roasted coffee and sweet toffee. Nice roastiness up front with sweet chocolate and toffee.

On tap at el Bait Shop.

Dark brown, leaves lacing like it's a nitro. Aroma is an even split with stout/coffee. Taste wise it's heavy on coffee with good stout sweetness and a touch of cocoa. Body is spot on for a stout and finishes super smooth. A wonderful example of what Iowa folks can do.

a milk stout featuring local espresso, and a very good one at that. i love how dense and rich and forward the coffee is in the aroma, and how warming and hearty the whole thing is, like a warm blanket and a cup of quality java on a chilly winter weekend. not quite black from the tap, good body is evident, a deep shade of dark chocolate brown and a short tan head. the smell is great, so much coffee, fresh ground espresso, subtle cocoa and char to it, a sweeter chocolate element too, and a creaminess as well, deliciously complex. the flavor is great here too, with the coffee really leading the way but getting some cool malt layers in behind it from deeply roasted and bitter to quite sweet and sticky caramel in the middle, the coffee weaves through them beautifully, and the finish is bitter and sweet at the same time, maybe the milk sugars could be scaled back a little bit, not subtle at all here, but overall the beer is awesome in both flavor and texture, and this was a great first impression of these guys for me! the coffee flavor is killer.

On tap at the brewery. Billed as a 6.2%, chocolate-covered espresso bean milk stout. Heavy coffee, yum. Also at our wedding!!
